Themed pets are basically rare special pets with a set colour scheme.
Generally they're only available during Fests or site Events, with the exception of the rare drop chance of Forsaken Guardian Ny'Vene from the final boss of The Dungeon of the Forsaken, and the wild themes of the Lost Grove.
You can search Themes (and Purebred offspring (pets for whom all their ancestors are of a single theme)) in Advanced Search.
They're 'separated' into Tamed and Exclusive- Tamed are themes found via wild encounter, which must be caught like regular wild pets. They are always at least Rare rarity (2 Trait Points) (appearing as Rare, Epic, Legendary, or Mythical.)
Exclusives can only be obtained or made in special ways that vary depending on the fest/event. Rarity varies depending on various factors (eg. all Forsaken Guardian venes are 2vis, while pets made via Sylesti Gardening can be 1c, 1v, 2v, or 3v depending on the quality/type of fertiliser (none/lesser/greater/exceptional) you used when making the pet.)
Themed pets have a gold star and their theme name in purple as a tag in their genetics section.
Purebred themes have a blue star and the theme name in blue there.
These can also be seen when looking at a pet's lineage
You might get some use out of the glossary section of our guide to Theme Design Contests
Examples:
Forsaken Guardian Ny'vene
Snowy Coal Vulnyx
Sunbather Gazania Nytekrie
