You may comment on this thread, but do not start random conversations or anything else. Only comments about the stories.

I have decided to write about the Temple of Legends, which is what my current and only stable is called. I am going to write backstories for all of my pets. I may include one or two about pets that I have released(I will tell you which ones). Please enjoy!

Anastasia

The two Aurleons stood beside the egg, eagerly waiting for it to hatch. Rallan, the male, began to pace. "Rallan!" said Willow, the female. "Be patient. It will hatch when the time comes." Rallan sighed and stopped pacing. He opened his beak to speak but was interrupted by a small crack. The Aurleons turned abruptly to the egg.

A small beak poked out of the egg's shell and the baby inside made a chirping sound. Willow and Rallan looked at each other excitedly. Their baby was coming. Then, out of the blue, came a crack from above the nest. Rallan looked up and two winged Draeyls descended from the tree, gnashing their teeth and growling.

Willow screeched and launched at a blue one, Rallan going for the other. The battle took them out of the nest and onto the forest floor, the moon light glinting on the Draeyls' scales. Rallan screamed in pain as one attacker bit onto his wing and threw him into a tree. One of Rallan's claws scratched across the Draeyl's eye, popping it out and killing it.

Willow clawed at her opponent's wing and the Draeyl roared with fury. He stabbed her through the heart. Before she died, Willow made one last attempt to save her baby and threw herself and the Draeyl off of the cliff behind them.

Rallan's breaths were shallow as he called out to the newborn Aurleon. As he lay there dying, Rallan whispered, "Be safe, Anastasia. Please don't---" Then he died.

Back up in the nest, a baby Aurelon with burning wings had heard her father call her name. She looked around and chirped. And then she called out, barely a whisper, "Daddy?"

Tsunami

Tsunami was a warrior of the Flaming Sea clan. He was the strongest. He was the most loyal. All of his enemies fell before him on their knees or retreated hastily. And he hated humans. Despised them. All he had ever seen of them was violence, greed, and destruction, whether they were a regular human or a strange sylestian. They attacked his clan and killed draeyls for their own benefit. They had shipped his friend Amber off to some market where he would be sold to someone else.

They were monsters.

And here they were now, marching down the beach along the surf with armies of them. Huge, teeming masses of humans just waiting to die when they were attacked by the smaller but more dangerous army of draeyls that waited inside the complex tunnels that sprouted from a cave in the sandstone.

Tsunami stood atop a jagged spire of rock and roared when he saw the humans begin to approach from afar. Hundreds more echoed back and the Flaming Sea army poured out of the cave, ready for orders from their commander. They were wild and free like the ocean's waves that crashed relentlessly on the shore.

Tsunami scanned the ranks with his slitted green eyes. "Do not attack until they make the first move," he growled. "And when they attack---"

"Show no mercy!" the army finished.

Tsunami nodded and climbed down from his rock spire and went to the front line. Someone passed him a spear tipped with barbed sea glass. It was sea blue with dark stripes like his skin that resembled the ocean waves.

Then the first arrow flew from a human bow, and the army advanced.

Tsunami head-butted a human with his spiral horns and sent it flying. He whirled through the battle, stabbing with his spear and slashing with his talons. It was a ravenous and long fight, but in the end, the Flaming Sea clan was victorious.

"Commander Tsunami!"

Tsunami forgot his wounds at the puzzled but alarmed look on the face of his comrade. "What is it, Shark?"

"This human... she didn't join the fight."

"Show me."

It was one of the stranger breeds of sylestians, but he had seen stranger. The girl lay on the ground with a spear in her side, and her eyes were calm. She seemed irregularly serene surrounded by ranks of warrior draeyls. Her eyes were slitted and green, just like Tsunami's. Her skin was blue-green like the sea on a windy day. Sprouting from her red hair were black, polished ram horns. Blood was soaking through her black clothing. She looked faint.

As she saw the crowd parting to let Tsunami through, her eyes widened with strange alarm. "She didn't fight?" Tsunami asked Shark, confused. Shark shook his head.

Tsunami stepped closer, sand rising between his feet. And then the girl spoke. "Tsu... Tsunami?" she asked in perfect draeylese, her voice weak. Her breathing was becoming shallower.

"How do you know who I am?" Tsunami demanded. The girl was beginning to scare him.

She ignored the question. "Amber... he... he misses you," she said. "He wishes... he could see you."

The army disappeared. Suddenly it was only Tsunami and the girl on the sand. "Amber?" he said. "You know Amber? Where is he?"

The girl started to answer, but her eyes closed and her breathing became jerky and weak. Tsunami snapped back to reality. "Shark! Limestone! Get her to a healer! Now!"

They raced off with the strange sylestian between them.

Amber. If he was alive... if the girl had saved him...

. . .

The girl's name was Dracorn Potato. She had saved Amber from some sylesti hunters a while back. From then on, Tsunami fought by her side and stayed with her, only visiting the Flaming Sea clan a few times.

Seripticuon

Seripticuon floated in the throne room, looking down at his arguing council. Sea Aeridinis were rare, and the clan was debating what to do about the problem of humans hunting them.

"It is going too far," said Marsh, the general of the army. "Our people are dying because of this, or are forced to live in misery on land in a tank. We need to move somewhere else."

"But where would we move to, Marsh?" Faelam challenged. "We have nowhere to go. We have sent scouts to seek out a safe place, and half of them never come back, and the rest say that there is no place where humans do not hunt sylesti."

"Then we must fight!" said Prince Kinya, Seripticuon's son. He slammed his red tentacle against the floor, startling a few small yellowfish, who zipped out of the room. "We must fight back. We will fortify the city. We will train our warriors harder."

The council seemed to agree with this. They all nodded and muttered their agreement, seeing the Prince's logic as their own.

Seripticuon shook his head. "Kinya," he said. "If we fight, we will only encourage the humans to hunt us." He waved a striped tentacle around the room. "If the humans see us as a threat, they will want to eliminate us permanently."

"King Seripticuon," General Marsh said. "We cannot just sit while Sea Aeridinis are hunted, killed, or taken captive. Your son is right. We must act."

"If we fight the humans," added Lady Kelpine. "We will have a better chance of survival."

"No!" Seripticuon cried. "I will not allow it! We must continue scouting out places that are safer than here, and we will continue to avoid the humans! This is what we will do. This meeting is adjourned."

"Father---" Kinya started.

"I said, this meeting is over! You are dismissed."

Later that night while King Seripticuon was in his rooms, he got a knock on the door. A servant bringing his dinner or some letters of disapprovements from the council or other sea clans. He turned the knob and opened the door to see his son.

And behind him was an entire army of Aeridini warriors.

Seripticuon shook his head sadly and looked into Kinya's eyes. He waited to die.

"Seripticuon," Kinya said. "You have been put into exile. Leave this place and never return."

Seripticuon did not protest. He only brushed his tentacles against his son's as he swam out the door, allowing the warriors to part as he swam through the hall.

From that day, Seripticuon floated aimlessly through the ocean, exiled and alone, smiling at himself for his own cleverness when his plan had unfolded.

Death at Sunrise

He was supposed to be dead.

Everyone else was. His parents, his brother, his baby sister. His best friend, his enemies. They had all burned when the sun rose. In the Eclipse Clan, he was the only Ny'vene that was immune to the sun's rays. He looked around at the scores of ashes that littered the ground. He remembered what had happened, right before they had all died.

"Das." His father looked angry. The sun had set minutes ago, and the Ny'venes of the Eclipse Clan had come out of their underground homes. "When the sun rises, you will come into the caves with us. I do not care if you are immune. You will not stay out here in the sun. I will not allow it."

"Dad---"

Ichor's eyes bore into him. "Fine," he said.

He flew higher up to the sky where the stars glittered and the moon shone. Something silver streaked behind him. He turned to see Broken Strike shooting toward him like a falling star. Death at Sunrise smiled at him. "Hi Das," Broken Strike said, lightning arcing between his shimmering wings.

"Hello, Broken Strike," Death at Sunrise replied with a grin. He knew what was on his mind. "I'm going to beat you this time, my friend."

"No, you won't. You can't beat me!"

Das tossed his head and set is wings, preparing to dive. "One."

"Two."

"Three!"

The two Nyvenes tucked their wings in and dove. They dropped like stones in the night. Death at Sunrise pulled his vibrantly dark wings tighter against his body. The sky was beginning to lighten. When they reached the ground, they would have to return to the dark tunnels in the earth.

Suddenly, Death at Sunrise felt a tremor in the air. It came from the ground, but it was so strong it sent waves of vibration up towards him. The tunnels that kept the Eclipse Clan safe, the tunnels that kept them alive, began to crumble and collapse as the quake shook the earth. "Broken Strike!" he yelled as he frantically snapped his wings open, stopping him. "Stop!"

And then there was chaos, and Das lost sight of him. Nyvenes were crying out in panic as the caves were blocked by masses of soil and rock. There was no cover anywhere. There were only vast plains for hundreds of miles, not a single tree or shrub in sight.

The sun spilled over the crest of the earth's horizon and there was fire everywhere. Screams rang through the air as every single Ny'vene was burned. All of them but Death at Sunrise. Now there were only ashes and embers, coating the ground in a thick, dry blanket at least a foot deep.

Now Death at Sunrise stood among the ashes completely at loss, for there was no other company but the blinding rays of the rising sun.

Amber

Amber was a soldier in the Flaming Sea Clan, closest friend to General Tsunami, second highest in his class, right below the general.

He heard Tsunami roar from his black rock spire. It was the call to arms, and a mad grin split Amber's face. The thrill of battle always lifted his spirits.

He joined the ranks in responding to Tsunami's orders. He stood at the front line, a sea glass spear pointed and ready. His friend came to stand beside him as the human army advanced. "Ready, Amber?" Tsunami said.

"More ready than you, Tsunami," Amber replied slyly.

"Sure you are." Tsunami rolled his shoulders and crouched on all fours. Never mind, Amber thought, laughing to himself. Amber studied Tsunami's spiraled horns. He had been discarded by his own parents because he had had none. Tsunami's gleamed as if they had been polished.

Suddenly, an arrow shot forth and broke against them. Tsunami's green eyes flared with anger. He snarled and the draeyl warriors advanced towards the humans.

The armies clashed and the battle began.

Amber thrust his spear into a man's gut and leaped over his body, growling and pouncing at any humans in his way. He fought relentlessly with Tsunami at his side, aiding him when he needed it. They fought together as friends, and no two could match their skill. If every draeyl fell, they would fight to the end and succeed.

Soon, the fight finished with the Flaming Sea Clan victorious once again.

Amber grinned at his friend, who had blood streaming down his flank, but with laughter in his green eyes. Another battle won. They were unstoppable.

Soon, all receded into the caves. One of the other generals, Kelp, stopped him as he reached the entrance.

"Don't ever hit me with the back of your spear again, lieutenant," she barked, motioning to the bruise on her maroon skin. Amber nodded quickly, but he could see the sparkling humor in her face.

Later that night, Amber went to the mouth of the sandstone cave and lay there to sleep. He often slept there, nearer to the crashing of the waves on the beach and the shimmering stars in the sky. He knew Tsunami was out on patrol somewhere. He laughed at the thought of him scanning the coastline and examining every stick and stone that dared get in his path.

He was glad Tsunami was his friend. Ever since his mother and father had left him, he had had nobody, and he had wandered Sylestia alone. Tsunami had given him a place in the Flaming Sea Clan, where he had a home and everyone was his family.

Suddenly, an enraged roar split the night and Amber leaped to attention. His muscles tensed and he stalked through the boulders that lined the beach. He heard a warning hiss. It was Tsunami.

Amber ran towards the sound.

He peeked around a boulder.

Tsunami was surrounded by five humans. One had short red horns and another had a fox tail. Tsunami's back legs seemed to be broken, and there was a blade to his throat. His slitted green eyes were full of rage and pain. Amber's breathing quickened with fear. He had to save his friend, but against five Hunters, he was useless. Unless...

Amber sprang from behind the boulder. The humans jumped back in surprise. He growled and stayed between Tsunami and the Hunters. The blade had nicked Tsunami's throat as it had been dropped, and blood was beginning to trickle from the wound.

"Amber," he said weakly. "What are you doing?"

Amber slowly edged away from him, his amber eyes fixed on the humans in front of him.

The Hunters followed his movements. They didn't seem to realize that they were now several feet away from Tsunami. He started running and the humans forgot about Tsunami, running after him. Amber ran until his lungs burst and he collapsed on the ground. He had never been a runner, but at least Tsunami was safe.

They threw him in a cage and took him aboard a large ship, where several more humans waited. The lead Hunter frowned disappointedly at him. He had clearly had his sights out for Tsunami.

He heard his friend's cry of misery and pain as the ship left the shore. Someone would help him eventually, but at least he was far away from the hunters...

Strike

Strike growled and hissed at her Master. She hated him. She loathed him. He would never try something like that again...
She lunged forward, but he was too far away. The thick chains around her haunches kept her from getting too far. Strike yelped as her Master sent his stinging whip through the air. She would kill him. Destroy him...

Strike woke up in a different place. She was in that cave. That horrid place where her Master had done that horrible thing to her friend. She had to get out, she had to leave, this wasn't happening, it couldn't be happening. Strike didn't want to die. She wanted to live. To escape. To get away from him...
He walked into the room, and she began to struggle harder. No, no, no, no, no, no, no! I don't want to die, she snarled. She snapped at him, but he strayed from her reach. Lightning arched between her spines, her wings...
Strike was dead soon enough. He had killed her.

Strike breathed for the first time ever. She didn't understand. She had come from an egg, and yet she was fully grown. Where was her mother? Her father? Did she have one? Something didn't feel right, like she was a part of something else, like she wasn't alone within her body.
Strike saw a man, and she backed away. She didn't like him. Something told her he had done something terrible...

She was on a table. A dead Ny'vene. That looked exactly like her. Strike lunged at the man, fury making her vision red. It was him who had killed Strike, him who had taken her life away...
He would not take Strike's life a second time.

Strike took his.
