I see that you can put tails and wings on your avatar, but i cant figure out how... and i did look, both cost 0 coins, so what's going on?? Please help!!

The wardrobe lists out all the items available (so that you can try them on), but you have to get the items before you can put them on your avatar. You can get them from quests, buying them from shops, boss drops and lots of other places. Quite a few people also sell them on the tradebroker, so you can buy some there as well! Once you've found an item it'll show up in your inventory, and when you "use" it it'll be put into your wardrobe!
Here's a really handy guide for where you can find all the different avatar items available.
Oh also wanted to note this just for the items tab of the wardrobe. The styles and clothing tabs are things you can buy with AP/diamonds. The items are the ones you have to find elsewhere.

OMG thanks so much! I am new and really don't know anyone here! Trying to find my way around can be kind of confusing... also, can you get friends here?

Yup! Just go to that persons profile and click the add friend button! And never be shy about asking questions, there's lots of information and it can be a little overwhelming at times The forums and chat are both generally full of helpful people (and you're also welcome to PM me if you don't want to post, I'm online and ton and always willing to answer some questions)
