I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some new role-playing threads that would be good for newbies?

Ookay... Sooo... A RPG is narrator led, with idems, actions/turns, and are usually individual. A good example is Grapejuice's Dragonverse. Here is an example of a something from dragonverse:
Grape: You are in a large meadow. In front of you is the enterance to a small village, and there is a forest to your right and a path leading to the mountains to your roght. (What do you do?)
Player: I go to the village to stoce up on supplies before exploring
And so on.
A RP is your basic RP, like what was explained on the thread where you asked about RPs. I'll pping you on one of mine called The War Games for you to join and try out!
