I've recently discovered how to link to certain posts inside a thread.
Unfortunately sometimes the links refuse to work at all where I get a
[TEMPLINKREPLACE]what I type[/url]

instead of a working link.

I also set up a link to a certain post within that same thread and instead of going
to the right post, it goes to a completely different post but luckily within the same thread.

EX.

[ url = URL Link to certain post with page 1 # 3]what I typed [/url]

but instead of going to page 1 post 3 it would go to page 2 post12

The Templinkreplace thing happens if you use the same URL link with different text. It's a bug with the design of how it works and I can't fix it w/o completing rewriting it. So, for example:

[ url=www.sylestia.com]My Link[ /url]
[ url=www.sylestia.com]Also My Link[ /url]

The above example will break and cause the error.

However, you can get around this by doing the following:

[ url=www.sylestia.com#1]My Link[ /url]
[ url=www.sylestia.com#2]Also My Link[ /url]

The hashtag +whatever will make the code parse the links as separate links and bypass the error. For the most part, adding hashtag + whatever won't affect anything. You can just make it jibberish. You can also use the typical URL variable code as well like:

[ url=www.sylestia.com?blahblah=blah]My Link[ /url]
[ url=www.sylestia.com?blahblah=blah2]Also My Link[ /url]

Etc, etc, etc. Just whatever to make the string of text for the URL unique.


For the second issue, I'd have to see exactly what your link is in order for me to tell you what's going on with it.

I fixed your post for you.

You had the same destination link used 3 times, but with different text.

So you had the follow link:

https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=60872&page=3#23

Copied 3 separate times.

In order to make it work with different text, I added some slightly different text to each link:

https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=60872&page=3#23
https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=60872&page=3&temp=1#23
https://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=60872&page=3&temp=2#23

This allows the links to compile correctly.

it worked for the first thread. but the second is still wonky.
I'll try to adjust it. if it still doesn't work should I ping you again?

Ah, sorry. Yea, I only adjusted the first thread.

Just copy what I did for the second thread and you should be good.

If you still have issues, just let me know and I can fix it for you.
