It seemed that the war was approaching sooner than the soldiers were expecting. King Leon stood out on the castle's balcony, overseeing the work. Soldiers were sharpening armor, and practicing battle techniques. Loud sounds were made as they worked endlessly.
Yet Caspian didn't complain. It should be an honor for him to work for the king. Plus, it was just a plus that he got to sneak out of his hut at night to go meet with the princess, who was always happy to see him. The two had grown closer together over past few nights. Though, lately, as the days flew by, it seemed like they were growing apart.
Caspian had the army, and the princess was getting older, which meant way more responsibility. The days felt longer and the nights felt short. However, tonight was different.
"What's wrong?" Caspian asked a second time. "Nothing." Aurora smiled weakly. "It really is nothing. You shouldn't worry about me. I'm fine, I swear." She looked up to the sky; the stars and moon glowing brightly. A chilling breeze blew around them, ruffling their fur. Aurora shivered and pressed herself against the lupora, who almost choked.
"So." The princess started. "Is everyone ready for the war?" She asked in a monotone voice. "Um, y-yeah, I think. We're getting there."
Silence overcame them. "I gotta go." Aurora said, abruptly standing up. "I'll see you later." She whispered, gently licking over Caspian's head. To say he was surprised would be a tremendous understatement. He was baffled, astonished, amazed, bewildered. "U-uh, I, s-sure." He replied weakly.
Although it seemed like such a small gesture, it holds such a large meaning. After the girl left, he was left to lay alone; thinking about what it could mean.
I know it was short, but this chapter was just to tide you people over for the last chapter, which'll be more dramatic, and a couple fight scenes. I think. Hopefully. Anyway, hope you people enjoyed! Bye! |
