-Chapter One-
.: Hate :.
Shes useless to us! The fed up, old Farm-Bot growled through his serrated teeth. Shes just rebellious! The Farm-Bots young prodigy retorted stroking Kaseys silky, dappled pelt. The cat yawned pretending not to hear their bickering. Today was a slow day like all the rest, arguing, threats, and the usual ordering around. Life wasnt easy thats for sure. Kasey purred as the young Prodigy-Bot scratched behind her metal ear. Thats just as bad! We need to wipe *both* her memory and personality chips this instant! The Farm-Bot wheezed after a few moments of thought. The Farm-Bot grinned flashing his serrated steel teeth. Times up kitty. He lunged reaching to grab Kasey out of his prodigys arms. Kasey leaped out of the prodigys arms, and the Farm-Bot crashed into his prodigy who made an electronic beeping noise in pain. Kasey could feel the rust on her hip joints as she ran, her steel legs leaking oil and flailing out from behind her as she heard the Bots cry of rage. GET BACK HERE YOU DIMWITTED CAT! Kasey pumped her legs harder, the air hurtling violently around her as she tripped, tumbling over the grass line and plunged into the outer edges of the forest.
--- A few hours later...
Kasey scrambled to her paws. She panted looking up at the sky. Guessing by the position of the sun she assumed it was about noon. Her stomach suddenly ached with hunger. She couldnt remember the last time she ate real food instead of table scraps. She whined slumping back down to her paws again. She felt wet droplets pelt her whiskers and head. She looked up at the darkening sky and rose to her feet. She stretched out her legs and ran along the treeline and dove into a rabbit burrow, taking shelter from the upcoming rain.
--- A few days later...
Kasey opened her heavy eyelids. It was raining violently and the trees waved threatening to topple over and squish animals like bugs without warning. Kasey shuddered and crouched at the entrance of her burrow. Finding food would have to wait. Kasey whimpered and laid down, burying her tender muzzle into her paws. Her stomach churned violently demanding food. Suddenly a violent crack arced through the air. Kasey looked up. A tree had fallen inches from her paws. The burrow went dark, the only source of light twinkled around a turn in the tunnel system Kasey had never explored before. She stumbled to her paws and followed the glimmer of light. The walls became narrower and steeper until Kasey was forced to crawl. At last bright light blinded her and she emerged from the burrow into a sunny patch of grass. She yowled in fear as a hover car zoomed over her head. This was no forest. It was the city!
Kasey yowled in fear once again as a hover car was knocked off course and hurtled through the air, crashing a tail length away from her. She leaped up in surprise her fur bristling. She felt her metal legs send her running, her flesh ones stumbled trying to cope with the sudden movement. Kasey sped through the suburbs of the city like a mad cat. She ducked into an alleyway and leaped onto a Dump Co. dumpster. Kasey shivered and curled up looking up at the sky with her large amber eyes. A feline voice called out, Hey! You there! Kasey snapped her attention to the speaker. She felt like she had seen this cat before. Y...yes? She stuttered shifting her weight. The stranger spoke again, Arent cha a farm cat? Hold on... The stranger trailed of studying Kasey. It suddenly clicked. Kasey knew this cat! Kasey purred meowing,Trigger! Kasey! Trigger meowed back. Ive missed you! Did you get a haircut? Trigger said jokingly. Kasey grunted rolling her eyes, Yeah Ive missed you too, Bucko. Trigger grinned and leaped onto the dumpster. So. Hows life been on the farm Kase? He said sitting down next to her. Not great, the Farmer-Bot tried to disable me again, Kasey said sadly her ears drooping. Triggers face saddened, Oh, h-how come? They think Im useless and rebellious. I cant help it. They dont take care of me. Kasey sighed getting up and shifting to a sitting position. Well. Your safe here with me, Kase. Trigger said shyly waving a paw over the alleyway. Thanks, Triggs, but I still feel like a useless dead weight, Kasey said in a monotone voice resting her head on Triggers shoulder. |
