What does 4 genotypes mean? Is it equivalent to 4 trait points? And if I buy 2 of the same essence am I able to combine them to get 6 trait points or no?

4 genotypes is maybe four TP, but I haven't heard the term used often, so I can't say for sure. 4 trait points (TP) is either two vis traits, one vis and two carried traits, or four carried traits. And you can't combine essences, but you can generate a breeding pair of pets and breed them together until you get the 3-vis pets.
