Here I will be displaying my cruddy art, for the sake of finding it again so it's not taking up room on my phone. It's not worth the space.

First ever digital art

If you have helpful tips please ping me....

Helpful tips... I have none, I could show you my artwork, and you would understand. but can I just say, amazing!!!!!! This artwork isnt cruddy at all. At least you can actually draw hands properly. Most of the time when I am drawing humans or human like creature, I have to have them with their hands behind their back so I dont ruin the drawing all together. The week of love art is my favorite, so cute! And your digital art, I cant do traditional art that good, let alone digital! Okay, now I shall leave ya alone.

The hands weren't really that bad to to, though his feet sucked big time. Still looking into trying to figure out how to shade with colors....

Hello Hawkeye,

Congrats to such nice art :) I realy like the first picture.
Regarding shading with colors: What questions do you have? Maybe I could help.

I am not got with anatomy (need 3d help with that). But I think I am doing alright with colors and shading - for an hobby artist that is ^^

My main question is really how do other people go about shading with colors. Do you add another layer or do you just add it into the normal colored one?

For me that depends on the level of difficulty. If I had to shade a simple ball or cube I would do it on the original layer. Simply because I feel confident, with what I am doing and any mistakes could be fixed easily.

For more complex shadings - skin or hair for example - I only do the first shading on the original layer.
When I paint in the first shadow-color and make a mistake I can fix them with the original color without ruining other colors. After that I work with layers. So when the first shadows are alright and while adding the lights I fool around I could completly start over with the lights without disrupting the shadow-color and original-color.

Imo shading with layers is good for artists without great experience. Professionals, who know what they are doing and can do it without even thinking about it, often shade in the original layer.

Hello!
I, myself, am an artist, and have been one for pretty much all of my life. Most everyone would say I am skillful, and I know there are things I need to improve on, but with the skills I have, I believe I am able to help you.
As I look more at your post artwork, I can tell your strength is in animals other than humans. I was the opposite when I started, I was actually better at people than animals, and then that shifted, and then it became balanced.
For my suggestion, any question you have about art, anything at all, to help you improve in your artistic skills, just ask me.
Though, if you have some other site that you use that I might have, then that'd be wonderful. I say that because unless I use deviantart (I like showing people examples to help them, I'm a visual learner so that's why), I can't post pictures without them showing up 20% of the time. Otherwise, just pm me or something.

Thanks for the input, and yes I'm better at drawing animals though am working on drawing humans at the moment. I will definitely keep you in mind if I have any questions! Added in few more recent ones I did as well. :3

Alrighty, I'm always happy to help whenever I can, and I'm pretty much, almost always on when I'm conscious.
