In science class, our teacher, Mr. Coats (he actually doesn't wear a coat) asked us what is PbO. Well, everybody knows what's O, obviously, but Pb? Not so much (it's just 8th grade).
Guess what the girl next to me said?
"Umm, umm, PEANUT BUTTER OXYGEN!!!"

Every time I see a PB pet, I'm like,
Oh a peanut butter pet.

I love it!
I can somewhat relate to having classmates who say weird things, too.
When we went over the periodic table in 7th grade, the teacher called on me when it came time to identify krypton because I was the big comic book geek of the class. After class, the new girl had this really confused look on her face as we went to our lockers, and I asked what was up. She responded with something that really caught me off guard:
"I didn't know Krypton was a real planet. How did so much of it end up on Earth to qualify for the periodic table?"
She was more than a little embarrassed when I pointed out that the element krypton had nothing to do with Kryptonite, the radioactive shards of Superman's home planet.
A few years later, she showed up at my house a few days before Christmas with a gift, told me not to open it until Christmas. The card said "This should remind you of how we became friends", and it was the collectible replica of Kryptonite in a domed container and a t-shirt with the periodic table listing for krypton.

Wow nice. The first time I saw Krypton on the periodic table I was confused too.
Also, the girl who said peanut butter oxygen is real confident, so when our teacher said that it was actually lead + oxygen, she said, "oh yeah I knew that."
