A distant place of Tramis. In Tramis, there are dragons. Great beasts. Only a select few, of an elite group, can possess one. Children who wish to attend the ceremony of choosing all visit the main headquarters, a small keep, and take several tests given by mages, spirit tests, of soul and mind. Those who pass continue to the next, where they all swear oaths. If they should be chosen, they will swear their loyalties to the dragon riders as well as the dragon and their kingdom. They enter the dark forest, where the young dragons are. Later they will migrate to the mountains in the winter. Once spring begins they and their riders will become real official riders. They will form links, or empathetic bonds between them, allowing emotional and physical things to pass between them, like strength to run a race, or a feeling of anger or dread.

The interesting thing about the dragons is that though they are born white, based on influences and emotions they can gain colors, pale and pearly at first, but some of the oldest are rich, dark colors. Wild dragons who are not found and who don't choose a human will be some sort of shade of grey. Riders have small pendants around their necks that are called dragon hearts. It is a piece of oval magical stone that changes colors like the dragon, with the name of the dragon and rider carved into the silver back. But something happened this choosing. And the links (the magical empathetic bonds between a rider and dragon) became sick.

Eight were chosen this year. One died, and the others had to make their way, according to the prophecy of an ancient Mage who died of wounds from the Ceremony.

Personality: She is stubborn, brash, and leaps into fights and adventures without much thought, but she has a good heart, and sometimes overthinks things, like the decision to enter into the Dragonrider Statehood.
Dragon Name: Namiss
Dragon Personality: Namiss is a sleek but battle-driven, clever dragon who enjoys hunting, and is just as persistent as her rider, though also very protective of Ailika. Namiss can be like the weather; unpredictable. She has the faintest hints of a pale orange at the tips of her wings, though she is, at the moment pure white everywhere else.
Backstory: She really didn't want to go, but her older brother dragged her into it. She lived in the city proper, in a perfectly fine cottage.
Kingdom: A very, very large city near the castle in Kerlig called Ganden
Sickness: Toxic link, meaning any use of that link causes headaches, vomiting, physical pain, and unpredictable outbursts. In other words, they are like parasites on each other, harming each other, but also needing each other to survive.

Gender: male
Personality: Rather cautious, he normally doesn't like to take risks that may end in injury or death. He can be a bit awkward to understand, and a little childish at time but he tries to fit in. He has a hard time fitting in with a group, due to his shyness. Onmund is a touch cookie though, yet he lets words hurt him in some regards.
Dragon Name: Arkanos
Dragon Personality: Ark is much like his master, though he tends to be a bit more aggressive towards strangers. He doesn't like taking the easy way out of it means getting injured in the process. When separated from his master he acts much like an untamed animal, and seemingly panics.
Backstory: When Onmund was born his parents expected him to become a warrior much like his father, though it soon became apparent that he was not at all like his father, in fact he was rather cowardly. So when it came time to be tested by the mages they happily packed him up and sent him away in a hope that he would die either during the test or on the way back. When they got news of him having passed the test they were both a tad surprised and over joyed. Maybe their son wasn't a complete failure after all.

Personality: She is very strong willed and will speak her mind when she wishes. She isn't very shy, and tends to want to do things her way. Jatara is stubborn and has a fiery temper that is difficult to calm. When with her dragon and no one else she is peaceful and quiet.

Dragon Personality: He is the voice of reason in their companionship. Whenever Jatara's temper acts up he tries to calm her down. Khatar is intelligent and reasonable.

Backstory: She was born to a rather wealthy family, but not one that was made of dragon riders. She decided she wanted to have a dragon companion and met Khatar during the linking procedure.

Backstory: Blue had always dreamed of Flying. She didnt fit in to well with others, Her age, younger or older, in her homeland. When she heard about the dragons, she jumped on the offer hoping to find some life long friends and a good pet that would never turn its back on her.
