The draeyl had walked all november and october searching for a mate. When she was about to give up, the sight of green as all leaves were dead caught her eye. It was a male, at last! As she pranced towards the male, he ran towards her to. They sniffed each other, and it was like love at first sight. They cuddled, and she decided to lead him to her den she set up in a cave. It was a quiet night, and as they looked up together, they saw aurora and hundreds of stars. After just a week, they decided to mate, and a miracle happened, as 3 eggs made their way into the world.

The mother was cold. She was constantly vomiting, and had never lived a painless moment these past weeks. She had an infected cut, and was ill due to horrid living conditions. But that was not what hurt the worst. Just 2 weeks previously, everything went wrong. First, after she laid her eggs, her mate stopped visiting her, and she assumed she was abandoned. But it wasn't the end. Later, when she went out for food, she was spotted by a human. She got startled and attacked. Worst mistake she made of her life. As she fought, when she was weakened, the human was going to attack. She commanded her loyal zolnixis to do a finishing blow, all with their mana at full burst. This is it, She thought. Hopefully someone better than I will save my children. Then a sudden burst of light echoed throughout the forest. But, she felt alive...right when she thought it was a miracle, it turned out to be a nightmare.

As she paused and looked down at herself, she wasn't in any more pain then before, but there was still dark liquidy red covering her claws, and more than ever. She looked up, expecting the zolnixis to now pounce on her to kill her off, but instead it was worse. Her mate was in front of her, lying, not breathing. She froze, and the human was frozen to. Suddenly her heart pounded harder than someone calling out for help would scream and cry. She felt sad. But strong. Passionate. Her veins pumped, but before she had knew what had happened, she heard the cry out of the human. "NO!!" There was silence. Red silence. That day 1 draeyl and 3 zolnixis ascended to the skies just in one gruesome fight. The human then tore off a spike that her mate had as a mutation, and jabbed at her throat. The add to the body count made her cry out in agony inside and out. She felt weak. The big gash on her thigh screamed with pain. But she knew that her children mustn't die to due to the battle she had started on the innocent. She climbed the rocks to reach up to her cave and tend to her children.

And here she was now. A horridly scented cave, with her children almost ready to hatch, but her in trauma. If he saved me, he couldn't have truly abandoned me to care. But now...I was to ignorant and so many have died because of it..

She went out for a new reason. She had the ability to spit fire, but there was nothing to ignite in her tiny cave. She set a warmed leaf on her offspring, and set out to the forest. She needed to use her strength to get wood for the fire, and it would be easiest to grab dead trees. When she found a pile of dead trees, she saw why. She saw in the corner of her eye the remnants, with no meat on each bone, of the deaths in the battle. She knew something must have eaten the meat...but red still stained the soft icey white on the ground. She tried to ignore it as she gathered sticks, but it was hard. Once she had enough wood, she hurried back, not checking behind herself a step of the way.

When she arrived home, the leaves she set on her children was frosted. Suddenly a griffi jumped out from behind a stone in the cave. She realized that the griffi was trying to freeze the eggs to eat them, but she was not going to allow that to happen. She dashed towards the sylesti opposing her, and cut it with her claws. It then hit her across the cave, but then it started to shake. Before either could retaliate, the cave rumbled, and before anything else could happen, boulders locked them inside. The griffi was stunned, but the draeyl took this opportunity to shoot out embers towards the wintery beast. The ice of the griffi started to melt, and she noticed how much in pain it was. She lunged towards it, but then it unleashed a sudden screech, and sent hail in the mother draeyl's direction. The ice pierced her, and frost started to creep up her body.

She gathered the sticks in a pile, and limped over to her eggs, taking the cold leaf off of them. She curled around them. She coughed up a fire on the sticks, and closed her eyes. The next morning was warm in the cave. Nothing happened. But then, at 8:45, the eggs hatched. They broke out, but then the heat seemed to vanish. They felt around for a warm mom, but they just felt a cold body. They cried out. Nobody took their side to warm them. She was already there. They then huddled in a ball together, using their mother's flame to keep warm, and her body to fill the emptiness in their bodies, but never in their heart. They only had each other. But not even the only good thing in their life would last forever.
