So, I've always wanted a ball python, like, my entire life. When I was 2 and my mom asked if I wanted a kitten or a puppy or anything, I said I wanted a snake. Well, now that I'm 18 - I CAN GET ONE! The only problem is: I'm having a super hard time finding a cheap display cage.
I see a lot of people selling cages with everything included on craigslist, but all of them include their unwanted snakes! I've had my eye on a particular snake, and I'm really a bit set on raising mine from a baby since it is a lifelong pet. Out of sheer desperateness, I've turned to pretty much anywhere in hopes of finding SOMETHING.
Does anybody have an unwanted snake tank (30 gallon-ish), with all the supplies? That would be heating pad, dome light, thermometer, etc.?
I live in the northwest Georgia area. Obviously I'm not asking for a freebie, I'm just wondering if anyone happens to have one.

Ooh! Ball pythons are gorgeous! :D
Glad to see another snake lover! (Well, I love all sorts of animals, but snakes are often overlooked).
Setting up can get a bit expensive, so getting a used cage is a smart idea. But not that many people have snakes! If you can't find someone who makes cages (I got my first cage from a local guy who makes and sells wooden cages for cheap), then you might want to try looking at fish tanks.
Some of them can be cheap (used), and some come with a thermometer. Even better are leaky tanks, which you can sometimes get for free (or nearly free) if you pick it up yourself!
****DON'T get a heat rock/pad!!!****** They can burn snakes!
Just get a heat lamp to heat from above, and only heat one half of the tank.
Cheapest setup I can think of:
Used (leaky) fish tank (since not filling with water it doesnt matter)
Fly screen or similar screen on top (needs to be attached firmly, but then is a pain to open/close--but is cheap). (Mine was fly screen attached to a wooden frame, with a hinge that could open and close half-way).
Heat lamp Thermometer
Water container Hiding spot (a cardboard box with a small hole cut out is excellent if you arent worried about looks).
Substrate (Coco bedding, Aspen shavings, or paper towels are all good options. Need to be replaced completely once a month or so. Or terry cloth towels can be washed with soapy hot water and bleach and reused). ***DON'T use cedar--its poisonous to reptiles****
Anyway, hope some of this helps! Happy birthday! & good luck with your new baby python!! ^^
PS.
We should design a ball python aeridini! :-P

Ooh pretty! I love the lighter colors! :D
However, the flower at the end of the aeridini reminds me of a rattlesnake! xD
My favorite type of ball python would be the Fire variants, since the colors pop out so much:

What a precious little baby omg!! Personally I'm not a fan of colorful BP's, I know they're really popular but I've always loved more dull, laid-back colors. Fires are probably my favorite colorful ones though honestly.
On the other hand, I am NOT a fan of spinners/spiders. I like big chunky dark spots.

I kinda agree with you about the larger spots. I find contrast is the most stunning. So I *love* bright colors with dark contrast. :D
For me, it's the same with other animals as well. So I think huskies are the most beautiful type of dog, with the sharp black and white contrast, etc. :)
Btw, let us know when you get your new baby, and send a pic! :D

Huskies are my favorite dogs too!! (Closely followed by German Shepherds and then Corgis ^.^)
And I definitely will! It may take me a bit to get my cage set up, and then more shipping time for the baby, but as soon as I get her I'll post some pics!
