Appearance: She has gunmetal blue eyes and wavy red, half shaven, hair that goes down to her collarbone. She's 5' 7" with a slender build. She wears a lot of jewelry, mostly on her hands and wrists. She likes plain shirts and shorts, if it gets cold she'll be in a long-sleeved shirt and jeans. She likes leather, denim and plaid jackets, her favorite being leather.
Personality: Marilyn is a very brash and blunt woman, she'll let you know what she thinks. She's inquisitive, asking questions whenever given the chance. She's very outgoing, not necessarily social but she isnt shy either. She's tough but practical, not afraid to go into the dark forest but not stupid enough to go get lost.

Appearance: Freiden has hazel eyes, and curly caramel hair. He's about 5,8, and has an average build. His clothes and rumpled, and fairly old. He wears hoodies a lot, or turtlenecks mostly over his shirt. He has a red backpack with a cat clip on it, and a scrapbook in it.

Personality: Freiden is quiet. He isn't very social, barely talking to any of his classmates or friends. He is observant, usually noticing the monsters following him within moments. He is fairly reckless, following monsters into the dark forest blindly, or running across the road when the light is green.

(I know this is set in the future 2050-2060 but is anything different? Specifically geographically or socially? Other than the monsters, of course.)

(Cities have deteriorated a bit, so it's pretty gloomy and looks abandoned. Around the edges of cities there's more weeds and grass and such.)

Marilyn sat on an old tree stump just outside the town, picking at the bark without anything else to do. Today was oddly normal, if you ignored the several glowing eyes watching her from the treeline nearby. They're normal though, for her, they come by every few days for a couple of hours and then disappear back to wherever it is they go. She waved at them but as expected got no response.

Freiden had gotten off from school late today; the last professor had really wanted to clarify on the theme on Freiden's book, plus he had to type up a short report for another old, dusty professor. After hopping off the train, he decided to cut through the woods, simply just for fun. He was late already, so why not make it longer?

Marilyn sighed, since she had nothing else to do and nowhere to be anytime soon she might as well go see what happens when she follows them. That's not to say she's never tried, she has, but it always led nowhere and why would now be any different? She knew it was unlikely, and probably a waste of time, but it couldn't be more of a waste than what she was already doing. She grabbed her bag from the ground next to her and ran towards the trees the eyes were in and just like the last several times, no matter how close she got, they always looked the same distance away. Even when she was standing under a branch she would have sworn one of them was just on a few moments ago, they seemed simply to be deeper in the forest. She quickly grabbed a pocket knife from her bag and marked the tree next to her, if she was going to follow them she'd at least like to know how to get back. Maybe she should have grabbed her phone, but she didn't feel like going home to grab it.
