Ashkit and Duskkit got up. They were alone always but soon they wouldn't be or so they were told. Duskkit sat down at the front of the nursery. "Come on Duskkit! Play with me!" Ashkit said. Duskkit shook her head in defiance. She didn't want to go outside. Ashkit tugged on Duskkit's ear.

Dove Tail looked up from her cozy nest in the nursery, looking warmly at the kits. She turned to Dusk Kit. " You should go outside and play with your sister." The queen cooed gently, " It would be good for you to explore." She purred as a large cat entered the nursery. It was her mate, Bracken Star, two mice in his jaws. " Hello kits." he purred to Dusk & Ash Kit.

Duskkit looked at Dovetail and then at Brackenstar. She got up and Ashkit bounced up and down. "Yay!" Ashkit cheered. Duskkit walked out of the nursery and Ashkit followed. Duskkit purred liking the feel of the light wind.

Bracken Star & Dove Tail purred, watching the kits leave the nursery. " Soon, we will have our own kits." Dove Tail purred warmly," Then we will have another set of fine kits. Speaking of kits, I think you should make sure that they don't get into any of the other dens." " Like you went into the medicine den on your first time out and ate a poppy seed?" he smiled with an amused look in his eyes." Hey! That was YOUR idea! " she said ignorantly, casting a warm smile. They both laughed, recalling their childhood together. Bracken Star's face grew serious as he added," Have you the med about your kits. What did Root song say?" his eyes filled with worry, and so Dove Tail said," Don't worry, Root Song said that the kits will be born in a day or two. Now you better go check on Ash and Dusk." Bracken Star nodded*

Knowing the kit(s) would be any day now, Dovetail lay in a soft, feather strewn nest in Root Song's den. Bracken Star was pacing outside impatiently, worry and excitement in his eyes. He kept in eye on the kits as he paced, his eyes softening.' Any day now ..." he murmured softly to himself.

Root began to sort the herbs shed need, sticks, maybe some poppyseeds..

Ah, there we go. Root said to herself

Dove Tail felt a kick, and let out a startled meow. She felt it again, harder, and bit her lip, forcing back a yowl in pain.
