E.D.D. stands for Empathy Defecit Disorder. Yes. It's a thing. And I don't mean, if the rude kid bumps their elbow it doesn't bug you. I mean, your friend cut themselves on accident and you don't.... I don't know. Don't care. It is a new term for a situation in which an individual may lack the ability to empathize with others. Because of it being a recent term for this, it is not listed in American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. This is not to be confused with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, where they have a large ego. I don't. Believe me.

From around the age of... Oh, six or seven, I figured out something was wrong with me. Other than clinical depression, I found that I don't care. So, I put on a mask. At school, at home. When I was bullied, I would cry, so, I found I can fake that kind of sadness. Why? Because if people know you can't empathize, you become a freak. My mask is special. It can do things my face can't. It can cry when you cry. It can comfort your tears. Ask if you are okay. Feel the need to hurry to the band aids. I don't want to wear this mask.

I'm sorry. To the people who see me as rude or standoffish. To the people at my school who get in fights I don't help. I'm sorry. I can't help it.

It hurts.

And even when you hurt

I don't feel it

So I'm sorry.

This is what it's like to not have empathy.

Update:

I have been doing some research and talking to my parents. I'll finish the update later.

I can't say I understand what it's like to live with a mental health issue or any disorder, but i can tell you that I've never seen you once being rude or standoffish.

It takes a lot of courage to open up about mental health issues, especially ones where that entail a lack of empathy.

Anyway, I hope your depression gets better, I know from experience that depression sucks. Good luck!

Lemme tell you about my mental thingy thingy magigy!
first of all, i am a person that doesnt show emotions, i dont feel sadness often, or hapiness. sometimes i stand there looking at the blank space. and sometimes, when im around a specific person. i can show my emotions some how! i feel joy and hapinness. but at home i only stare into the darkness in my room. these are the only emotions i can show when im not around some specific people
-Seriousness
-Anger

That is not my only mental issue, i take medicines on not going into a mentally break down and try doing bad things to people.
its seriously sad

these are only the most common ones you can find in me, there are so much more. i have learning problems, i do not learn easily and/or dont listen to anyone except myself.

i can guess whats going to happen its called 6th sense, but because i have 6th sense my eyes are super sensitive to water, that's why i keep it cold.

and i know, it hurts but some people are born this way or made to be this way! if we werent supposed to be unique, than we wouldnt be ourselves! i thinks its super cool to not feel empathiness because, when you feel too much of that really weird thing like me, soon you will have no expressions and emotions left. just a gray blank picture is all you look like
