What's your dumbest thing that you did with a bird in your life?

I work with birds everyday so It's hard to choose
the dumbest thing of all the dumb things I could do xD

I will list two but are they dumbest? I dunno, probably xD
(Long post incoming! XD)

1. Human-imprinted ravens are a force to be reckoned with!
That is... Even if dealing with quite a small female.
I made a huge mistake of pushing my luck too much.
I tried to kiss the head of Hugina (said small, human-imprinted raven)
I got reminded in a very painfull way that she hated human females with passion.
The only human female she ever loved was my friend (her owner).
My upper lip and gums of my front teeth took some time to heal after that.
Moral of the story: Never trust ravens that are not yours and never try to kiss them!

2. Raptors and Gamefowl do not match!
Another dumb thing I did...
It was when I totally forgot that my pet rooster was wandering in the garden freely.
He is a big, strong Turkish Gamefowl rooster (the breed is also known as Hint Horozu)
He is a hot tempered boy. Overprotective of me when other birds are around.
And I did not notice him following me when I went to check on my Goshawk in his aviary.
I went inside the aviary, closing the doors behind me. My hawk was happy to see me.
Suddenly he froze, his pose and eyes spoke clearly that he's seen someting.
I heard a loud rooster alarm cry and angry wing slaps. Too late I realised
that the rooster was standing right behind the aviary doors looking at the hawk
throught the see-through spots of the doors. And my hawk saw him too.
They both attacked the door furiously, not paying attention to me standing by the door.
Rooster screaming, hawk screaming, both kicking furiosuly and wing flaping.
I cried for help because I was not able to calm them both at once alone.
My brother did not hear me so I spent 15 minutes, glued to the aviary door INSIDE the aviary.
After my rooster got super tired of all the jumping and door kicking and went quiet,
I was able to get my hawk onto my hand (a tricky thing without the leather glove)
I calmed the tired hawk, checked his feathers to make sure none were broken
and after that put the hawk back to his perch. He shook his feathers, relaxed and happy
and I was able to quickly slip out of the aviary. I grabbed the still anger-steamed rooster.
I hugged him, calmed him too and took him home, away from the hawk's home.
After that I ALWAYS make sure that my rooster is locked up when I go to my goshawk.

What's your dumbest thing that you did with a bird in your life?

The dumbest thing? Oh lord... Um... Probably the time I played Duck, Duck, Goose with real ducks and geese. It happened last year on the 26th of May, which me and Alystor call 'Do Everything Literately' day. It actually started back when we were at Cambridge. I was getting a degree in Criminology and Lysie was getting one in Law. We shared an accommodation together and one day we got drunk and decided that we should have a Do Everything Literally day. So a few years later, we decided to play Duck, Duck, Goose at my Granddad's farm in Yorkshire. So there we were, rounding up ducks and a goose to play. The ducks were particularly well behaved, sitting in a neat little circle. The goose was a bit harder to sit, but we managed it. So I walked around the ring, patting the ducks on the head, going, "Duck... duck... duck... duck..." finally, I made it around the ring towards the goose. I said "GOOSE!" and patted it on the head. The bloody thing bit me and chased me around while Lysie got it on video. The goose caught up to me and started biting me like I was a delicious pasty! In the end, Granddad and Lysie managed to pull the duck off me and I sat curled up for about five hours, crying my eyes out. Curse you Eunice the Goose! Curse you!
