~Appendix I~
Languages
The language of the Elves and Fairies in Sylestia is Sindarian. It is the language of the elves in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and only seems appropriate for the fair folk.
(Example): Cuil naman (I love you.)

The Aurleons, on the other hand, speak a language that is Elvish and Old Entish combined. Old Entish is the language of the Ents in Lord of the Rings (first introduced in the Two Towers). Since Aurleons have a connection with trees and nature, I stitched the marvelous Aurleolanguish tongue together. Most sylesties speak the Common Sylesti Tongue as well as their own species' language. It is rare to see a sylesti that speaks only their native tongue. In Eurus' case, she doesn't speak the Common Sylesti Tongue because she sees no reason to. The Aurleons are known for keeping to themselves and rarely interfere with outside problems, with the exception of politics.

The language of the Lupora can only be described a few ways, most people would describe the species' language as gravelly and harsh. Many compare it to the sounds of barking and growling. Their language, however, is much more sophisticated than that, often using multiple descriptions, as well as scents and body language to get their point across.
(Example): Arori Aratat! Kira Aranti! (Help Mother! Remember Mother!)

The language of the Puffadores of Eternys is literately Latin. The citizens of the great city are very well educated, experts in astronomy, mathematics, languages, and physics, so it only seemed appropriate.
(Example): Expecto Patronum (I await a Guardian)

The language of the Ny'vene is inspired by the dwarves of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The Dwarven Language is not much mentioned in the story, so I couldn't make them entirely Dwarven. It was a joke that my husband came up with. He had mentioned the fact that if the Ny'venes spoke like dwarves, it would be very ironic, as the dwarves and dragons are enemies in most stories. I was inspired by the names that Gimli called many things, similarly the language involved many Kheled-Zarams and such other nonsense.

The language of the Griffi is based off of the Nazgul's Black Speech. Their language is harsh and dark.
(Example): Grach nagh furan duhr (I like rainbow custard)

The language of the Qitari is based off that of the Houyhnhnms from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels. The Qitari dialect if based mostly, if not solely, in the throat.
(Example): Hyna hynahhyynnannin? (I'm bored, chips anyone?)
