A grey cat was resting among the trees. Her fluffy tail twitched in the breeze, and she calmly licked her chest. A leaf rustled, and her ears angled while she looked up. A small wood mouse had just emerged from the piles of decaying plant matter. It's big black eyes shone, and it stopped to nibble a berry. That was a mistake. In under a second, the cat had dislodged itself from the resting position and descended on the mouse with a leap, snapping the thing's neck.

Another leaf rustled, but not from prey. The scent of an unfamiliar cat wafted in to the grey tabby.

Kasey opened her heavy eyelids, she glanced about her surroundings. Her hind legs were stiff and rusted, and her hearing sensor was disabled. She winced at the ringing inside her ears and stretched out her stiffened legs mewling.

I tracked the scent to a strange cat. Something was wrong with their hind legs. "Who are you?"

Kasey turned her head to look at the grey tabby. "Oh, h-hello. Um, my n-name's Kasey." She said shaking herself, the ringing finally faded away.

"I am Ashfa- I'm Ash." I bit back the words I wanted to say. I nudged her, and asked. "What's wrong with your legs?" I poked one, and it made an odd noise.

Kasey stretched out her one of her metal hind legs to get a good look at it, she frowned muttering, "I knew I should've chosen stainless steel..." She studied the rust and finally spoke up, "I guess my legs rusted."

I stared at Kasey blankly. "How do you even have metal legs? Did twolegs do that? Why?"

"Yes twolegs did this to me, and I have no idea why. But that's in the past."
