Technology has advanced further than anyone could imagine. Bioengineered life and floating cities have become real. Holoscreens and climate control are everyday things. But, while most life, human life, has now populated exoplanets and, for space sake, the entire sky is covered with anti gravitational structures, allowing for higher buildings, and some flying over others, with people with robots as best friends, they seem to have left behind their old best friend. Man's best friend, the dogs. Despite their independence, cats quickly became prey for coyotes, foxes, bears, and many other predators. Filling the newly available niche with humans no longer on the surface planet, dogs, which in the past century had evolved to become smarter, and a little more human, have become a new top predator in many areas.

Dogs have become able to experience complex thought processes, be aware of their lives, ponder things, and use tools. Dogs are aware of human concepts like jobs, voting, democracy, fire. Thus, the packs have formed. Some are forgiving, some are vicious and kill humans on sight, some simply enjoy life, as they know it is short.


Humans have planted trees native to certain areas all over every country, leaving buildings to rot. Roofs have caved in, windows shattered, wallpaper peeled. Humans only come down every now and then in small pods to gather ore or investigate the growth. Of course, not very many come back. But the dogs eat well.

There are many packs in North America.
The Desert pack, taking up Texas, New Mexico, and a large chunk of Mexico. They are generally thin and wiry, with tan coats, resembling jackals or dingoes through several generations of living there.
The Swamp pack, taking up the southeast, including Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, and that area. They are more brown shades, with coats that are thin and sleek. They are strong and bulkier, and just one or two could kill a gator.
The Forest pack, the largest pack taking up almost all of the east coast, going as far west as Minnesota. They are the most varied, and no definite traits can be given to them, though they can mostly weave through trees, east ones can fish, and many can climb well.
The Plains pack, all across the Midwest region. They are generally hunting dogs, and generally smaller. They can jump like a caracal to catch iris, and are very good with communicating with their pack and surprisingly, they can easily eat plants.
The Mountain pack, all across the Rockies, is the least social. They are generally mountain dogs; Hyskies, Malamutes, Samoyeds, etc. they have adapted to survive cold, climb well, and survive with less oxygen. They are the most pack oriented.
