1. How long does it take for a adolesent to become an adult? do I need to do something special to make them adults?
2. Sometimes when I use a net and end the battle my pets get 0 ex and when I check my stable I didn't catch anything, is that normal not to get any ex even though you defeated your opponent?

It takes a brand new Adolescent 18 days to reach Adult. You can purchase Magical Pies from the Diamond Shop to instantly reduce that time by 3 days per pie. Each pet can only eat 1 Magical Pie every 3 days. Other than that, there isn't much you can do to speed up pets aging.

If your pet is an Eggling or Hatchling, profile views and nurture clicks can help to speed up the aging process.

As far as the 0 Exp, it sounds like the Sylesti you attempted to catch ran away. When that happens, your Party won't receive credit for defeating it and thus will receive 0 Exp. And obviously, if it runs away, you didn't catch it hehe.

What are proficiency points and how do you earn them? Also what do the stars above an opponents name mean?

You earn a proficiency point for every five levels your pet gains (so 5, 10, 15, etc). You can use it to invest in increasing a stat of your choice via the Proficiency Trees (there's six elements to pick from).

And stars indicate the difficulty of the enemy. :>
Colors indicate rarity, which conversely means the Sylesti has a gene or mutation (if not more than one).

On the same topic of proficiency, how do you unlock the "enhanced" version of the skill, such as Enhanced Beam I and stuff like that. It says it costs two points and requires 5. I have two points and the requisite 5 points spent, but its still gray and un-clickable.

Did you spent 5 points in the "skill" to the left of it?
