Okay, so this is a weird bug that recently popped up and it's made my PM-writing a NIGHTMARE.
Previously, it was a simple process.
1: copy the desired URL.
2: highlight the desired text to add a link to.
3: click on the "Add Link" button.
4: ctrl+V to paste in the link.
5: hit the "Create" button.
But NOW... for some reason... when you first click on the "Add Link" button it no longer defaults your keystrokes to input the URL. Instead, when I hit ctrl+v, it plugs the URL in right OVER the part I highlighted, deleting it and replacing it with the URL that was meant for the box. Meanwhile, the box is just sitting there, empty, and still showing up over the message itself so the mistake isn't even noticed.
So instead of getting...
"I could breed Noctis to Demona, Lyra, or Leona" with all of the links properly plugged in.
I ended up getting this -
I could breed https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2530188[urllink=https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2530188][/urllink] to https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2408556[urllink=https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2408556][/urllink], https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2572498[urllink=https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2572498][/urllink], or https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2572497[urllink=https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2572497][/urllink].
- horrible mess, because I hit ctrl+V out of habit, and now that it overwrites the highlighted name and the popup box stays blank, I think I did something wrong and first click the box and ctrl+v again. Only to realize in message preview, "Crap! I just lost all of the names! How'd those URLs get there!?" and later troubleshoot how it happened and post a bug report.
If this was an intended change, let me ask you this:
Why would anyone highlight over their text and hit the "Add Link" button, and then WANT go back to typing on the message and type OVER their highlighted text without ever putting in the link, thus keeping the "add link" box for the URL hovering completely in the way while removing the highlighted portion of text?
That would... that would be dumb. I'm sure that anyone who hits the "add link" button is ready to add a link.
So I'm assuming that this is a bug. >_>

There is nothing that I've changed on my end for that. My guess is something either changed with the way your browser handles that script or an extension is tampering with it.
I just tested it myself, and once I click the "URLLINK" button, I can't do anything to the main body. It doesn't place the cursor into the text field, so I still have to click on it. But it won't let me past over the highlighted text or anything while that box is up.
What browser/device are you using? Have you tried without any extensions enabled?

I use Google Chrome on my PC, same as always, and the only extension on it is Google Docs which shouldn't interfere with anything. For all I know maybe Chrome had a weird update that's tampering with things. >_<
As far back as I can remember, though, as soon as I hit the "Add Link" button it did activate the box immediately so all I had to do was ctrl+V. The forums are still functioning like normal; as soon as I hit " URL=" or "IMG=" the cursor goes straight to the box where it should be.
I guess the PM's "Add Link" is just playing hard to get, and when posting 5, sometimes up to 20 pet links in a message, I don't have time for its games. >__<;
It's still weird to me that you have to click the box first for "Add link" too. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't always like that. Thousands of links as I've sent in messages over the past 3.8 years on Sylestia, I think my muscle memory would know to click the box first by now and I wouldn't be replacing pet names with their url links out of the blue. xD

The Forums, I'm pretty sure, use a script that will auto select the text field for you once opened.
I am not sure if the Social Network page is that fancy - it was made eons ago when dinosaurs still roamed Sylestia.
I can check the script file and see and maybe try and add it.
For Chrome, I use their beta browser, which is: Version 61.0.3163.49 (Official Build) beta (64-bit).
I seem to usually avoid their bugged issues... like when drop down menus were/are super oversized. Or at least, it seems to get fixed faster when those issues arise.

So, I added the javascript bit that should auto focus on the text field, but it doesn't seem to work - at least for me.
I am guessing just the archaic ways the page and scripts are written... something is not allowing it to work properly. But I'm not sure what or why.
Maybe it will work for you or others, though.

It is working for me!
The cursor doesn't show up but I can ctrl+V and the copied link is pasted right into the box again.
Thanks Krin! :D
(Weird that it isn't working for you, though... o_O)
