Far away from the people of Sylestia, Sylestis made their own village, on a small island not on the map.The village was not really a village at all. It was a refuge. Every sylesti that was released would try to find their way to Moorsland. There they could be in peace. For most of the time.

Clink! A small Zolnixi flinched. The grey-blue pup grabbed the fallen coin in her teeth, dropping it in her bag. She glared at the Faelora who knocked into her, but she walked blithely by, lost in the flowing river of colors and shapes and sounds. Why did Moorsland have to be so loud? The grey pup asked herself before answering that in her head. Because the Lighiras and Ryroris and Griffis and the rest of that lot don't want to share their land with us common Sylestis. There was a stern cough, and she looked up with an 'eep!'
"What are you doing, pup?" A stern Aurleon with red and brown feathers glared at her, talons clicking on the cobblestone road.
"I... Was gonna buy!"
The red Aurleon grumbled a "Hmm...."
She pulled out another coin out of her bag and set it on the counter.
"It was my coin, by the way, I didn't steal it." This was true, she thought. she hadn't stolen it, per say. She... found it. Besides, so many Sylestis with money flaunted their richness. They didn't need to wear a dozen gold bands and diamond earrings and jewel encrusted outfits, but they did. But she needed food, so she kept the gold coin. The coin she gave the bird wasn't real anyway. It was a chocolate coin she had been saving. It was very convincing though. She quickly grabbed the bread, and put it in her bag, deftly avoiding pickpocketers by having the strap on so the bag rested on her chest. She heard a crunch, and knew the bird bit into the coin. She vanished into the crowd. Paws and hooves pushed her around, going against the flow of her movements. She was caught in auras and vines and had to jump on the back of a grouchy Sylvorpa to avoid being burned by the flames of a burning Aurleon. She slid down the tail of the blue Sylvorpa and dashed under legs and wings, scampering into the dark side of town. Several sylestis nodded to acknowledge the thief. She saw Pain, as he was called, with his small hat on the cobbled path, and she broke a piece of her loaf off, giving it to her friend. Pain was a dull green color, and he had scars all over his body, and though he was not much older than she was, he had a limp. His wings fluttered, and he smiled, biting into the bread. She kept running, not having time to chat, when a shadow was cast above her. A ny'Vene landed at the end of the alley, and she struggled to remain calm. Her alleyway was on the other side of the road, but if she tried to go a different way that would be suspicious. She faked a smile and walked past the guard. the guard gave her a funny look but didn't react.
"Be careful around here, pup, unless you want people to get the wrong idea." She nodded, and then she tripped over the dragon's tail. Making her coins and the bread fall out.

In a second, the guard was on to her. This one had four arms, and used one to grab her by the scruff, hoisting her up. He held her at arm's length, wrinkling his snout at the smell.
"Care to explain?" His purple eyes light up, the lighting around him stinging her neck where he grabbed her.
"Uh... I payed for the food, and those coins are mine!" She scratched at his scales, but they were hard as diamonds.
"Not what the vednor told me. What's your name?"
"Smiles." All of the abandoned hatchlings and adolescents had nicknames. Hers was a cruel joke of sorts because nobody had ever seen her smile before. He threw her on the ground, and she skidded, yelping.
"You surely know what we do to thieves right?" She whimpered.
"We send them back to the mainland."

The Ny'Vene picked her up and flew until the sea was below them, and banked, sending her falling hundreds of feet down to the beach, where an orange Kelpari caught her in the air, green water mane sloshing.
"Time to go." Smiles whimpered as they dove into the water, one of the bubbles around her forming around the pup's face. After about an hour, she ungraciously flung the pup on the beach, diving down into the depths. Some colorful Sylvorpas snickered. She crawled up until she reached grass, then meadows. If it took an hour for an aquatic being like the Kelpari to get to the island, her weak paddling would take days. Finally, exhausted, she curled up in a soft patch of grass, burying her grey snout in her tail to sleep.
