During the past Patriotic Fest, there was someone keeping track how many battles till you got a Pyro. As I was keeping track, I noticed something strange. I always run the Dungeon of Forsaken first thing in the morning. So, since this dungeon shouldn't have caused an effect on the Pyro numbers, I subtracted them from the totals. Every morning... it turned out to be exactly 48 battles (this was calculated using my battle record in my profile page)

Finding this interesting, I started to experiment. When I run the dungeon, I run it straight thru. Meaning, I fight everyone, open everything. ie, no running or ignoring! I ran it a couple more times straight and continued getting the 48 battles. Then I started trying to run from battles. First time, tried to run from 8 (5 did run) and still got 48 battles. Next day, tried to run from 7 ( 6 did run), 48 battles. 3rd day, ignored 5 places, 48 battles. Today, I tried to run from 29 battles (22 did run) and ignored 7.... 48 battles!

The only thing I haven't done is miss any of the bosses, I hate to waste a day of trying to get those Ancient Relics!

Conclusion: Don't run, don't ignore! You will have 48 battles and you are prolonging the dungeon if you do!

I would welcome others to try this research and see if you come up with the same data!


Side note: This isn't the same in Nightfall Bandit Dungeon, the battle numbers fluctuate.

I was talking to someone about DotF aaages ago (I think it was SheVampire) and they said that this one time when they ran away from every battle it took them hours to complete the dungeon (they then advised us not to do that)....however, when they killed everything it took them < an hour.

So....48 battles for the full dungeon? Sweet! It's good to have a number to it...especially if you're anything like me and get bored half way through the dungeon. I might also start keeping track from now on. (...I do still require those elusive fire and light relics). Anywho, thanks for posting this!

I am glad you my findings are helpful to you! Those ancient relics are sure elusive! I would like to get another Light.... well, any really! :)

I started dotf today automatically and very nearly forgot to record my start data...Uh... I had already gone full steam ahead with 2-4 battles before realizing this.

I recorded 46 battles after the change with +/- 2-4 battles. (pretty sure it is confirmed 48 battles)

tomorrow when I do the run I will do a full breakdown! I'll record the amount of fights before each door and before each boss. This should be really fun to see!

Here's a breakdown:

Entrance to the first door: 4 battles. Door was Intelligence

First door to boss 1: 9 battles. Boss was Ralios the Resilient. encountered 2 armies.

Boss 1 to sword and shield door: 5 battles. Completed in 11 moves

Door 2 to boss 2: 9 battles. Boss was Vorkid. 38 enemies in the boss fight.

Boss 2 to boss 3: 15 battles. 2 of them were army encounters. Bosses were priestess, assassin, assassin

Boss 3 to final boss: 5 battles. One of these was an army encounter.

Thats 47 battles, and killing vierna makes 48.

The breakdown again is almost identical to yesterdays: the battling between each dungeon segment is 4 - 9 - 5 - 9 - 15 - 5 and then vierna fight. The only thing different is that the 4 army encounters occured at different points: 1 before the first door, 1 after the first door, and 2 after the arena.

phew okay. I did a full breakdown of the dungeon run.

So that's why the battling after the arena always feels like a slog. 15 battles! That's usually the point where I get bored of the dungeon!

as an aside: I'm kind of interested whether the army (led by the 4 star) encounter rate might change per run. I feel like it does because I once ran some super low levels through and I got heaaaps of the 4 star army enemies. It was kind of a nightmare but was great for their experience. I know that the order that they occur in varies: But I do not know if the amount is static. Would either of you be interested in recording the amount of 4 star enemy encounters?

That is some mad record keeping skills, Amarok! I just usually use the battles in my profile and enter the beginning and end! I find it interesting that I had Ralios and the same dark elves (Priestess, 2 Assassins) today.

Today's run was 48 battles with 10 ran (14 attempts), 8 ignores. I got 2 mythical items. (I just started keeping track of mythicals).

I think that I will no longer try and run/ignore, as I do believe that the magic number is 48. But I will keep track of 4 stars. I just wont include the 2 that are always in the vorkid boss battle.

Mad record keeping sacrifices my ability to blindly slaughter everything in the dungeon quickly. I may or may not continue this. It did slow me down and I dislike slow. ~ buuuut for the purposes of data collection I might do it this detailed. At least for now.
