Please Don't Read If You May Get Scared From Reading About Scary/Shocking Things
If a suggestive theme happens please try to smarten it up a bit:
ex. Couple were having fun when they were killed, by the monster.
If someone isn't indiscreet enough about it, simply pm them, I'll try my best to be indiscreet to for anything like so.
Ok I got this idea because I finally got to see the Evil Dead Remake. This probably wasn't a good idea since I watch a horror movie and I whimper while covering my eyes, maybe hiding behind my BF, if he's there with me. Now I didn't get to watch all of it, but wow I knew it was off from the original and was expecting it, heck anyone who knew it was a remake knew it was almost completely off, but there was stuff in there that didn't need to be added in.
*Spoiler*
There is a scene in both movies where girls are running away from the cabin, and get swept up by thorny vines.
difference:
old: Girl is simply entangled scratched up and strangled, yes some vines moved up her legs, but the stopped after a certain point, probably bc the point was to trap her.
New: Girl is entangled, is starting to be strangled, then she's simply just held down in the air by the vines. Creepy girl who later does a tongue waggle in a mirror, comes out of no where pukes up some black, shiny thorny vine crap, and... goes all the way up her leg and possesses her. WTH!
My view was why did it possess her the way it did? It would of been smart if somehow the evil got into her bloodstream, or if the ugly vine thing enter through her mouth (which would of been more classy, though a bit traditional). At least there's excess to the brain through the mouth, making somewhat more sense.
I think what, at least american horror films now a-days are going for is gore and Inappropriateness. I understand the movie is a lot scary once the other girl gets possessed, but dang it sure wasn't as scary as I thought beforehand. The only part that made me squeal was when the swamp monster thing popped up and scared the living crap out of the girl.
Most horror movies are unfortunately R. This makes movies like Aliens seem like it's a horror movie for kids. Honestly I was scared of the idea of aliens that look like hands, were gonna come and impregnate me, then kill me from popping out of my stomach. The original Evil Dead may of been a cheesy B-Movie but at least it had class, nudity, Some extreme violence, that was less then half the violence in the new one, and it was rated R for the time bc of scary scenes and violence, end of story. or maybe it was pg-13, still it was less suggestive then the new one. A lot of horror movies have and will continue to rely on cheap jump scares. This is a fact, a given. Many also rely on gore (slasher movies don't pretend it's anything else). A good psychological horror, though. That's good stuff. Freaky as heck.
Sexuality is a common horror motif. Homosexuals are almost certain to die- their lifestyle is sinful, and therefore they are somehow deserving of the gristly ends they meet. Those who are promiscuous often meet very ironic ends. Demonizing of sex and sexuality is something that horror movie writers and directors feel that audiences can identify with, as we have had it pounded into our heads from a young age that "sex is bad don't have sex or you'll get stabbed from underneath the bed by a dead guy in a hockey mask or God will send you to hell or something and you'll experience eternal torture". This can lead to a lot of the inappropriateness you see in horror movies. "Yeah, you had sex in the beginning of the movie with your boyfriend," they want you to say, "you deserve this, yesssssss." It's quite frankly really gross. That should not be a common theme, and yet it is one of the most common themes.
I think that games are a much better vehicle for horror. They are much more immersive, can take longer, and can really develop a story in characters in a way that films, which are usually limited to an hour and a half to two hours worth of story, cannot always achieve. Take the first few Silent Hill games for example(before they became less "survival horror" and more "shoot things horror"). Wow those things are scary. If you enjoy sleeping, don't play/watch those games. They really mastered the creepy ambiance, and know exactly what fears to tap into. Flesh is definitely the creepiest monster color. Flesh and rust. Buh. I laugh at horror movies. The SH franchise gave me nightmares for months.

Yea I heard of this one game, don't remember name but I'm sure someone would know, where you lose sanity if ur in the dark and u gotta solve a mystery before this thing in the dark kills you.
the first bio shock was scary as hell T_T although that was the point of it. I also heard of an enderman game where you gotta solve a mystery, are constantly in the dark and the enderman is constantly chasing you, last I heard, I was told by someone who played it that they don't think there is way to survive the wraith of enderman and even if you solve the mystery you die prob anyways. I watched him play a lil too, we both screamed when he turned around and about a few feet away was the enderman, he ran for it XD
