If you use an item to put it in your wardrobe or like a decorated egg to add it to your festival shop, how do you undo that?

Most of the time, you can't un-use an item.
If it's useable items like experience orbs, potions, etc, the items are used immediately on the pet shown underneath the inventory tab. This can't be undone.
If it's tokens like festival currency or sanctuary badges, they are transferred to the festival shop or the sanctuary respectively, where you can then use them. But you can't move them back to your inventory.
If it's avatar items, they are transferred to your wardrobe. To remove them from your wardrobe, go to your wardrobe, find the item, and click the red minus sign at the bottom left corner. The item will then be moved back to your inventory.
