has anyone tried the new pokemon go update yet? I live in china, so i can't play it. i don't get how the raid battles work either.

If you have played that update, how is it like?

I got a chance to participate in a raid battle the other day. I believe they lowered the required level to level 20 to participate now.

Raid battles are cool. Basically, you'll see an egg on top of a gym location with a countdown. If you go to that gym when the countdown is done, you'll get to see what pokemon is the raid boss. You and any other players (doesn't matter what team) that are in the area can choose to join the battle. You choose your team of 6, then everyone fights the raid boss at the same time. After the battle, you get some prizes. The more damage you do, the more premier balls you get. You use the premier balls to try to catch the raid boss and add him to your collection.

Gyms are also a bit different now. Only 6 pokemon can be added and none of them can be the same. The gym pokemon have hearts that slowly deplete over time or as they get attacked. When the heart fully depletes, the pokemon is removed from the gym. You can also spin gyms now for items and badges.

So far, I'm really liking the change.

Yup. Like I said, I'm pretty sure the number of premier balls you get is based on how much damage you do during the battle. Once the battle is done, you get to throw the special premier balls at the raid boss to try to catch it. I got a CP 849 Quilava the other day.

Also, pink egg bosses are not as rare or as powerful as bosses that come out of yellow eggs. There is going to be a third tier, which is expected to be legendaries.
