Sometimes it can certainly pay off... other times, it really really doesn't.

I was playing around with the test breeding generator today and decided to take a risk with these two Lighira.

in a hope to get a result like these test breeding results:

So purdy!

But the egg rather unfortunately turned out like this:

We'll just have to wait and see how he/she turns out. Hopefully the genes will be good and I can attack him/her with a pet dye to get rid of that baby pinky blergh.

Anyway, after that enormous post... I was wondering if anyone else has taken some big breeding risks? If so, did they pay off? (Or really really not?)

If you don't take the risks, you will never have pretty babies. XD

@Kier,

True, though a lot of people do like their breeding projects with generated parents... myself included. Although I'm a sucker for a random breeding that ends up well.

I think with my Lighira it just felt more risky because I have to wait longer to try again/something different. Same with my Ny'Vene.

@Tpll,
I also love random breeding. I rarely breed ugly colored pet unless they have the gene I want.

Usually when I want to play safe, I breed my pet with another pet that has a lot of genotype points. Well, if the color went wrong, they still win in points.

as a wise woman once said, "take risks! make mistakes! get messy!"
usually the pet that isn't what you expected turns out to be the coolest pet
I have a whole tab of bred pets like that XD

Yuck, I've mixed some blues and yellows hoping for whites and gotten truly HORRENDOUS greens. Funny enough, it seems to have only really happened to my qitari. Fingers crossed the greens will be excised with breedings....
These guys literally look like Frankenstein monsters

This guy was a surprise beauty though:
