Hey there.
I have my eyes set on a pet that can regenerate a certain number of trait points and all it's colours. The thing is, it already has a gene I don't like. My question is, if I remove the gene with a Philter, will I still have all the same trait points and colour option ?
(Also, I do plan to replace the gene I don't like with the one I want instead.)
My guess would be yes, but I'd rather ask for confirmation before spending quite a lot of money on this pet. Thanks !

Could you link the pet you're interested in? What you described should not be possible. Regenerable pets should not have any existing genes, cause all genes/traits will be removed and counted as trait points to be used for regeneration.

It's this guy : https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=2854783 I actually want to buy the three near identical puffs but I need to be sure I can get rid of the last gene and regene them before actually buying.
But I got another Puff with an existing gene as well and he was regenable and recolourable too.

Ahh.., I see why that pet has an existing gene. If you view the pet on the advanced search, you'll see that it has the letters BH for gene 3. the B is the totemic runes shown, the H is a hidden valentine lace.
Valentine Lace is a restricted gene, so it cannot be added to a pet through mutation, nor selected by regeneration. So when the puffs went through revamp, affected pets were allowed to be regenerated, but those with valentine lace had those frozen so players won't lose that gene.
So if you remove that gene, the remaining trait points won't be affected. The thing is, I don't think the system allows you to use philters on a pet if it is still regenerable. This means you can't remove that gene before regeneration...

Thanks for the infos !
I've tried my luck, and you are right, you can't use a philter until a pet has been regenerated. Oh well, I'll work around it I guess, thank you !
