i recently (as in, maybe...an hour or so ago) bought a male ny'vene that had 10 trait points regenable--i had a design saved in the generator and i was all rip-roaring ready to go, except...all but two of the genes i had picked out for him were greyed out. when i hovered over, the tooltip said he was "too old" for those genes.

i'm so confused. why does that matter? where's the threshold between "too old" and "just right"? it says his birthday is 9/8/16, so this past september...he's not ancient, i don't guess. i'm just puzzled why this is a thing i guess, lol. should i go for a younger ny'vene? are there any who are even young enough that are available? any help or answers are appreciated!

I think you might be trying to use some traits that were added after the ny'vene revamp - those are not available for re-generating.

When pets are revamped and are allowed to be regenerated, only traits that have been released before the revamp are allowed to be used. The greyed out traits means those traits were added after the revamp, so you can't use those on a regenerable pet.
