This is a story that I decided to write, I have no life... So, I hope you enjoy. I will use some of my roleplay characters but I shall also incorporate new ones.

Basic setting and blurb: In a world where the sun has gone out and the land is left in darkness, few creatures live with unnatural light on them. Different from the rest, they are hated and kept distance, many creatures have evolved powers, some use theirs to slay, others to help.
This story begins in a small kingdom with few civilians. Every night there is a loud noise and the ground rumbles. No one really cares but a few sylestis let their curiosity get the better of them and set off to figure out what is happening.

Here are the characters:

Name: Agni
Appearance:

Personality: Agni is a loud and cheerful character, he often pulls jokes and acts silly and childish, Agni loves making friends and lighting up the room.
Backstory: Agni was born as an orphan but as one of the few traces of light in this dark world, sylestis tended to avoid him, not wanting to break out of the normal and stay true to the society's typical appearance. He never got adopted and grew up able to leave the orphanage and live on his own and
despite the fact he was avoided, he never failed to keep a smile on his face.
Skills/Weapons: Agni can occasionally create amounts of fire, this is only possible when he is very angry which is not his normal emotion.

Name: Aria
Appearance:

Personality: Aria is a confident and strong sylesti, she closely follows rules and is strict when they are disobeyed, she is cold and distant to people she isn't familiar with but after getting to know them she is open and kind. It is very rare to see Aria smile.
Backstory: Aria hatched in the wild, with her parents nowhere to be found. She was alone for many years, suffering hardships and trying to stay alive. Eventually, she stumbled across a kingdom where she was taken in and worked up the ranks to become the commander of an elite army group.
Skills/Weapons: Great fighter, fast and powerful.

Name: Nyx
Appearance:

Personality: Nyx is quite quiet and shy, she doesn't appreciate social interaction and prefers to sit on her own and go her separate way.
Backstory: Nyx grew up with a big family so her parents didn't have much time for her. She learnt to stay quiet and not trouble people with her problems. Her parents didn't teach her to interact with others so she has always been isolated.
Skills/Weapons: Nyx can literally blend into the shadows and become one, this way she can go unnoticed and spy easily.

Name: Rosalia
Appearance:

Personality: Rosalia is mysterious but only because so little is known about her, otherwise she is a generally happy sylesti with a kind personality.
Backstory: Rosalia came from a family of ryori with beautiful red eyes, a very rare trait amongst sylesti. They glowed like a lamp. Other sylesti hated them, they grew jealous of the beauty and her family were killed. Rosalia was a baby at the time, she was taken by some ryori who lived nearby and forgot all about the incident, growing up thinking that they were her parents.
Skills/Weapons: Rosalia can control the air but only the air that she breathes out. She has still not perfected this technique and can often make mistakes.

Name: Hyperion or Ion
Appearance:

Personality: Hyperion is normally quite serious, he has a blank voice and expression most of the time and rarely smiles. Occasionally he may crack an out of character joke, he is also rather emotional when others aren't watching.
Backstory: Hyperion grew up normally, he was just a regular child but when he became an adult he wanted more, he joined the army and vowed to protect and serve. After that he was set up for experimentation to engineer light and colours, it only partially worked and he was set aside as a failed experiment.
Skills/Weapons: Abnormally strong due to hard training for the army.

Name: Aries
Appearance:

Personality: Aries is smart and funny, he likes to mess with others and confuse them. Although his name might suggest it, he is not strong but instead he is clever.
Backstory: Nothing really. :T
Skills/Weapons: Mindpower, great with strategies.

Name: Loki
Appearance:

Personality: Loki is a rather angry character, he has a hot temper and is rather harsh. He cares only for himself and his own wellbeing, normally choosing his safety above all else.
Backstory: Loki was a slave until he was a teenager when he ran away. After this Loki learnt to stick up for himself and fend off danger. He never knew such things as love and kindness or right and wrong, only alive and dead.
Skills/Weapons: In dangerous situations, Loki can call upon the ghosts of past and use them to attack.

Name: Nemesis
Appearance:

Personality: Nemesis is one to hold a grudge, she always looks on the bad side of a situation and is very persuasive when getting her point across.
Backstory: Nemesis had a normal life, she grew up with a family that she didn't entirely get along with, she grew up and left to go see the world.
Skills/Weapons: Nemesis has the power to persuade most people, into giving her something or believing a lie.

Name: Crimson
Appearance:

Personality: Crimson is a kind and happy sylesti, she loves being active and going out on runs, Crimson is normally smiling and being helpful, she is only ever grumpy when someone offends her friend(s).
Backstory: Crimson grew up as a lady, her parents deemed her unladylike so they pretended she wasn't their daughter. In the end she fought to join the knights and eventually gave up and let her join.
Skills/Weapons: Crimson has adapted with very good senses, better than the others.

Name: Astra
Appearance:

Personality: Astra is strong willed and always fights for her beliefs, she is friendly and kind but she can have a bit of a temper and is often fairly oblivious.
Backstory: When Astra was almost an adolescent she was released into the wild with no idea how to take care of herself. Previously she had been a pampered hatchling and then suddenly, she was on her own in a land she couldn't cope with. Barely managing to survive, she gained strength and managed to teach herself how to fend of evil, until she stumbled across the small kingdom and started a life there.
Skills/Weapons: Astra is very fast and has photographic memory.

Name: Cosmo
Appearance:

Personality: Cosmo is a hyperactive child and loves to play. Cosmo is fun and constantly happy, he is rather dumb and silly.
Backstory: Regular child's life.
Skills/Weapons: Able to read minds but struggles with people he hasn't met before.

Name: Luna
Appearance:

Personality: Luna is quiet and shy, she rarely speaks and struggles to associate with others. She is thought of as weird, so she isolates herself
Backstory: Luna had no parents so she cared for herself, running if anyone suspected.
Skills/Weapons: Luna has visions of the future.

Name: Shadow
Appearance:

Personality: Shadow is both quiet and loud depending on his mood. He has so many personality traits at different times and can have pretty much any emotion at any time.
Backstory: Normal life.
Skills/Weapons: Can slightly teleport, only within sight.

I will write the story now and I may add more characters... Don't judge if I have a lack of imagination.

Agni's PoV



He woke up suddenly, today was the day! Today he would get accepted, do something useful. Hopping from the bed, Agni shook the dust from his fur. "Wow! That's a lot of dust." He said to himself, glancing around his dirty house. His small room was covered in dust, dirty footprints ran across the floor and stains coated the wall. His bed was broken and hard, one leg had collapsed and the others were weak and thin. Biting the inside of his mouth, he left the room, Agni had never really cared that he was poor so he left the house without a second thought.
Carefully, he approached the kingdom gate, would he return here afterwards? Probably not. Pushing open the gates, Agni walked out into the dark world beyond the walls, prepared for any danger to come.
Agni wondered through the dark land, in front of him a mountain rose from the ground, just a faint silhouette. His paws pressed lightly against the ground, cold hard stone ran out in front of him for miles. Slowly, he wandered towards the mountain, desperate to figure out what the noises were. Behind him sat the kingdom, the place he would normally be. Sitting there day on end, Agni was relieved to leave the judging gazes, the peculiar stares but he missed the bustling atmosphere.
The mountain grew close, it's peak reaching for the sky, into the dark empty image. A sigh escaped his mouth as his head turned to look back at the kingdom, if they had accepted him, he wouldn't be doing this. Shaking his head slightly, he continued to walk, a slight feeling of fear rose in his stomach, was he ready for this? Would this turn out all right? It didn't matter, he was going to do this anyway. Maybe once he discovered what was happening, his kingdom would appreciate him. Maybe they would like him.
Agni had reached the river, it ran through the ground, carving a route into the dirt. Breathing in deeply, Agni sat beside the river, leaning down to take a drink. His muzzle entered the cold liquid, Agni lapped up the water, feeling it run into his mouth. Shortly, he rose up again, taking in a long breath. The fur around his mouth dripped, causing him to shake the water fro his fur. Shooting up his ears, he sensed a presence behind him. His eyes travelled to the corner of his vision, slowly he turned to see a dark figure infront of him. Standing there, staring straight at him.

Aria's PoV



Aria awoke from her sleep to the constant darkness of her room. The wind blew outside, rushing into the window and chilling her warmth. She rose from her seated position and stepped from her room, heading towards the castle. She pushed her way through the bustling streets, ducking and diving between the sylestis that wandered along the street. She finally made her way to the entrance of the castle and ran through the doorway.
She strolled through the hallway, turning a corner and heading towards the throne room. Opening the door, Aria entered the room, the hall spread out in front of her, large and empty. Straight ahead of her sat the two thrones and on them, the king and queen. Slowly, Aria approached the thrones and knelt in front of them, showing her respect. Aria raised her head slightly and spoke, "Your majesty, I would like permission for a temporary leave from my post, to investigate the strange happenings." The king rose from his throne and nodded his head to Aria, "Very well, Aria, you are one of my best soldiers, so I wish you back very soon. I will give you two weeks. No more." Aria sucked in her breath, unsure if that was long enough to get it done. Air flew from her mouth in a powerful gust, "Very well your majesty, I will not fail you." Turning swiftly on her feet, she exited the throne room, leaving the king and queen to their business.
Her footsteps echoed, the only guidance in this almost black world. The corridor stretched out before her. When she reached the end of the corridor, she exited the castle and stormed towards the kingdom gate. Signaling up to the guard, the old gate creaked open and slowly walked into the dark wasteland outside.
As Aria scaled the wasteland, she spotted a figure in the distance. Kneeling beside a river, their head dunked into it. Carefully, she approached the stranger, cautious of safety. She stood behind them, watching as he turned around. "Who are you? What are you doing out here?" A cold voice dripped out of Aria's mouth, a stern glare upon her face and by the look on his, he was just as confused.
