"I'll race you!" Lila yelled, the brisk Autumn air whipping her face.
"Lila... I'll never catch up! Mom said you were supposed to look after me!" Augustine puffed.
"You don't need watching. We're just going to Mom's lab, which is a few houses down." Lila said, rolling her eyes. "What's in that backpack anyways?" she asked.
"Textbooks." Augustine said shyly.
"Hah! Nerd!" Lila joked.

Ashley had been thinking about what pokemon to choose for a while and had finally made up her mind. Without further hesitation, she set out for Juniper's lab.

Amali walked around route 2, trying to find something other than a Lilipup. "Go, Phanphy!" She shouted as a wild Lilipup attacked. "Use Rollout!" The lilipup fainted almost right away.

"No, you get out of the way!" Augustine said, nudging her.
"I'm going to choose first!" Lila exclaimed, sprinting ahead.

Professor Juniper opened the door. She looked rather annoyed, but then again, who wouldn't be? Lila and Augustine were bickering in the back.
"C'mon in." she said.
"Tepig only beat Snivy because of it's type advantage! I could beat you any day of the week!" Lila said angrily.
"But you didn't today." Augustine pointed out.
"I'm going to be the very best, like no one ever was!" Lila said hotheadedly.
"Good luck on that." Augustine said, holding Tepig in his arms.
"Augustine, Lila, stop arguing." Juniper snapped, walking in with a new acquaintance.

"Actually, it's Lila and Augustine." Lila corrected, "Because the oldest goes first."
"That's not true, remember what one of the Seven Sages told us? Youngest goes first." Augustine butt in.
"That's not what I remember."
"I have a photographic memory."
"Who cares?"
