How do I get scales my friend has some but he does not know how he got em.

Hello, you get scales by nuturing eggs and hatchlings! If you go an egg's or hatchling's profile page and click its picture, it will say on the top the pets needs, and you will have options on the bottom to choose. For example, you have this egg in your hatchery -

The top part says that the egg is dull. To successfully nuture it, you need to click the right option, which in this case is to polish the egg. Once you fulfill the pets need, it will reward you with a scale! (And during the fortune festival, it also sometimes gives you a shamrock!)

Here is a little cheat sheet to nurturing pets too -

If an eggs says -
If it's dull -> polish it
If it's restless -> turn it
If it's warm -> cool it
If it's cool -> warm it

If a hatchling says -
If it's weak -> work out with it
If it's derpy -> read it a book
If it's hungry -> offer it food
If it's restless -> play with it
If it's slow -> race with it
