The Dawn. The third of a fleet of Alterra Corp's spacecraft set to explore the universe. The Dawn is traveling to the Ariadne Arm along with several other ships to explore the furthest reaches, which are as of yet unexplored. Its mission is to find another potentially habitable planet for human colonization. Several well-off citizens are also on the ship. It will separate from the rest of the fleet as the Arm is entered.

This is Erin Stragan speaking, captain of the Dawn for this expedition. We are currently separating from the rest of the fleet. All upper-tier crew members are required to record logs while we travel. The PDAs belonging to members of expeditions onto likely planets are currently downloading software necessary for exploration and short-term survival.

Lifepods are located on the port side of the Dawn, Expedition pods on the starboard. All lifepods are equipped with a fabricator, a locker with filtered water, flares, and ration blocks, a med kit fabricator, a short-range communications relay, two AEP suits, and solar-powered battery cells. Expedition pods are equipped with the same as lifepods, but with an extra fabricator for weaponry and extra supplies. Please make sure you always know where the nearest lifepod is.

After a long trip into the Ariadne Arm to find another planet for human colonization, the Dawn has come near a large ocean planet that from a distance seems to meet the requirements for human life - water, an atmosphere, and warm sunlight. However, as the Dawn nears the planet, a missile is launched toward it from on the planet, and the ship is sent into disarray. You are one of the survivors, able to get into a pod and escape before the explosion reaches you.

Several hours later, you awaken in your pod on an unknown ocean planet. And here your story truly begins.

All other pods are destroyed, and their travelers dead.

Erin shook her head and tried to put a hand up to her temple. Something was restraining her arm. She opened her eyes and looked around the unfamiliar area. "Oh. Lifepod. This doesn't seem too- wait. What happened to my ship? We were flying, and then something started exploding, and... now I'm here. Not dead." She smacked the seat pad and the restrainer opened. Erin stood up and promptly tumbled to the floor. "Ow. Lesson for next time, huh?" She slowly regained her footing, turning to look at the rest of her pod. "Cells in order, hull integrity isn't great, fabricator looks like it's working, and...oh. Broken med kit maker. That's survivable...hopefully." Then she turned to the ladder. "Well, let's head up, shall we?" She clambered up and did her best to quietly open the upper hatch, slowly climbing out. She took a look around and swore. "An ocean planet? Are you kidding me?!"

Slowly the pod dipped in the water as the waves moved it about, knocking it against the ocean floor. The sun beat down upon the shining metal, drifting through the gapping hole in the side of the pod. A particular beam fell upon the passengers face as he sat there strapped to the seat. Water pooled at the bottom of the pod from its tipped over state making its passenger seem as though he was laying down. The man gasped as he woke, widely looking about from where he was strapped in. "What ta? By jezus what 'appended?" He groaned and he put his head back against the seat. There had been fire, and panic as everyone made their way to the pods. He was lucky enough to get pushed in one right before they shut the bay down. Now though he seemed to be regretting it. The sun burned his eyes as he attempted to wake. His head hurt and there was dry blood on the side of his face. Great! A concussion! Just what he needed. Slowly he raised his arm and hit the latch on the seat to get it to release. After struggling to stand he found that nothing in the pod was working, there was too much water damage for any of it to be saved. Again great! The gapping hole in the hull of the ship seemed to be the only way out of the pod thus he jumped towards it grabbing the jagged edge and pulled himself up. From here he had a perfect view of the carnage of the Aurora. No words came to his as he stood there staring. Could anyone be alive in there?
