I remembered Rounds 1 and 2 - but forgot about the rest - too busy playing to think about opening doors!

For future reference, you just have to participate in Round 1 by the time Round 2 starts.
So you could have picked a door at 4:59pm for Round 1, for example. And then Round 2 would have began at 5:00pm.
