Memories
She danced upon the ocean,
Where no one else could see.
She knew she chose the water,
To set her feelings free.
And all the while she's dancing,
To me she casts her hand.
But I'm too busy hiding,
My head's stuck in the sand.
Her eyes hold all the sorrow,
For she knows she leaves me there,
And I cannot move forward,
So after her I stare.
She's passed on by the horizon,
No more of her can be seen.
Yet still I hear her footsteps,
Whatever they may mean.
My feet, they long to follow,
So I let them dance along,
Here all too soon I'm singing,
Our favorite victory song.
I think perhaps that I,
Understand why she went away.
She had too much to offer,
For me, alone, to stay.
Her parting still brings me sorrow,
But a spark of hope now, too,
Hence why I bring you down here,
So as not to sadden you.
For one day you may see me,
The sun shining on my hair,
My arms stretched out to gather in,
Someone who is not there.
We all dance upon the oceans,
Influenced by their ebbs and flow,
Still yet we are the masters,
This I hope you know.
When it is time that I go dancing,
I'd like for you to see,
That I will not go lonely,
Others will dance with me.
Come my little darling,
The night it now draws near,
But I am right here with you,
There is nothing there to fear.
The child looks back across the water,
And sees a flash of light.
Is it her there, still watching?
I think perhaps it might. |
