Well, I have a vulnyx (http://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=6543) that, in the genetic description, is said to have cheetah spots visible (written normally, not in italic). But, the vulnyx doesn't have cheetah spots and the breeding grounds consider him as having non-visible cheetah spot. I don't know if it's truly visible or not, but I'd like to have it corrected.

@Dimitri
Slight mistake in the image code. It has been corrected. You'll have to refresh the Vulnyx' image to get the new one.

Hi I have a captured Zolnixi http://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=310721 when I caught him he already had the African painted gene and I used a lesser genetic mutator on him but he didn't get a second trait, carried or visible. I'm sorry if there is a thread for lesser genetic mutators already but I didn't see one.

Lessor genetic mutators can give either a carried or visible gene, but it's random. I would guess that it is a carried gene, and you'll have to get the pet genetically tested to see what it is.

Like Ash has said, you will have to get your pet genetically tested; if it has gained a carried trait, you wouldn't know because it is hidden until tested.
