Hi! I am DracornPotato, and I LOVE to write stories. I want to see all of the other talented writers out there. I hope lot's of people put lots of stories on here!
Rules
1. DO NOT make fun of or critisize other's stories. You may compliment them, but do not say anything bad about them!!
2. Keep each story on one post. It should be short, but still like, an actual strory.
3. Do not use any bad words at all, or I will have kick you off(so please don't, because I do not want to kick you off!).
4. Sometimes you will be writing "Fan Fiction," and other times you can write about whatever. I will decide and let you know(I will most likely alternate between the two, but still check in case it changes)
How This Works
Evert week, I will hold a new contest.
If it is a "Fan Fiction Week(for Sylestia)," I will create sylesti and you can choose on to write about.
If it is a "Free Write Week," than I will let you write about whatever comes to mind.
At the end of each week, I will try to announce the winner as soon as possible. I will accept no entries on the day that I announce the winner because that would make it very difficult and confusing, so please do not sumbmit anything on the deadline.
As a prize, I will breed two pets of your choice from my stables and give you the egg. You may also choose a pet from one of your stables and breed it with one of your choice. Send me a message containing what two pets you would like to breed! On messaging, not on the thread.
I will be judging these, so here are some things that I like when it comes to free writing(you can still write about other stuff, just some suggestions):
1. Dragons
2.Fantasy in general
3.Magic
4.Historical fiction(if you write about this, then please explain to me what the historical event is above your story)
This Week Is:
Free Write!
Deadline For Stories: March 20th, 2017
Use the post you used for last week! Just edit it. It will be a TON easier for me to keep track of new stories.

The young ny'vene struggled to free herself from the net she'd unwittingly stumbled into. Trying to shake her wings free did her no good; instead, the thin wire cut more tightly into her delicate wings and threatened to draw blood. She fell limp, defeated. Someone had captured her, and there was no way she could possibly escape.
This was not the best way to start Akira's day.
Three hours previous...
"Hey, Jinn! Catch up, can you?" Akira called to her brother. Lagging behind, the youngest member of her tribe was too busy inspecting flowers to bother keeping up with the rest of the traveling group of nomadic ny'venes.
"Aw, Aki, can't I just get one more?" the stray hatchling whined back.
"No, Jinn! We have to keep moving! Look how far behind you are!" Akira didn't feel like handling her youngest sibling right now. She was tired, and there was still a long ways to fly. "Come on, Jinn! I'm waiting!"
"Oh, fine," the young ny'vene grumbled. He tried to take off in a hurry and stepped on one of the flowers he had been so carefully examining. "Hey, Akira, that's your fault if the fairies come after us for messing up their garden!"
Akira resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Jinn, there are no fairies around here. For the last time. Come on!"
It only took, oh, maybe an hour before the obstinate hatchling finally caught up to Akira.
And that was a problem.
Akira was lost.
See, it was all Jinn's fault, right? He was the one who kept Akira back for so long that she lost track of the other ny'venes. If he had just come quicker, he and Akira wouldn't be wandering aimlessly around in the middle of the drekking mountains!
And of course, the kid would not shut up about it.
"Akira, I'm tired."
"Akira, where are we?"
"Akira, are we there yet?"
"Akira, do you have anything to eat?"
"Akira, I'm thirsty."
"Akira, I want another flower."
Akira wanted him to be quiet for just one karking second. Would that be too much to ask?
And then, of course, the kid had to go see a drekking morkko, for kriff's sake! And decide that the best thing to do when faced with an enormous rage-beast of a sylestie, to run up and start talking to it!
That was when the morkko's owner (as if Akira's day could not possibly get any worse without the threat of a karking kidnapping added into the mix) stepped out from behind a tree.
Of course, Akira had a duty to protect her younger brother from pet trappers. So she bravely stood in front of the tiny hatchling, irritation (almost) forgotten, and tried to fight the massive bear-creature.
She didn't even get to bite it once before the trap was settling its razor-thin wires around her neck and wings.
At present...
Akira opened her eyes in a dark, unusually warm space that smelled of straw.
She didn't like it.
The net had, thankfully, been removed from her wings; but she was trapped in a cage, and that was almost as bad. Snarling and snapping her teeth at the bars, she felt the unpleasant sensation of rough, hand-spun cloth scrape against her sensitive nose.
That must be why it's so dark, she realized, and it's probably to keep me from realizing how late it must be, or who else is trapped here.
The thought was not a reassuring one, and she shuffled in place to try and calm some of her restless energy, when--
The floor moved.
She jolted backwards, and the floor shifted in time with her movements, and then began to sway softly. The young ny'vene thought about it for a second, and decided that the cage she was, er, caged in must have been suspended on a string or a chain or something from the ceiling.
She would put money on that being because the owner thought it would keep her in the cage or something.
Well, Akira may have been afraid of heights, but she was more afraid of what would await her if she stayed in that cage. Gritting her teeth, she stood up and slammed all of her body into the side of the cage.
The fabric shifted somewhat.
Waiting for it to swing to another good angle, she ran into that wall. The cage swung higher, and she nearly lost her balance. The fabric fell about half off of the cage. On the down-swing, it finally fell loose and she was able to see where she was.
Luckily, she couldn't seem to see Jinn anywhere.
That was the good news. Nothing else was even remotely close to positive, so far as she could tell.
Cages suspended from a wooden beam from the ceiling spanned the length of an enormous room. Each metal contraption was a different size, and held a different critter. She could see the beast-like morkko from the mountains, and a puffadore, and even what looked like a distant relative of hers. The puffadore was, it looked like, sleeping off injuries. What kind of insane, cruel monster would this owner of hers have to be, to put a sweet lap dog in a place they could get hurt?
Well, for that matter, why was the puffadore in a cage in the first place? They were literally bred by humans to be good human pets.
This owner must be cruel, indeed. She would be up the creek without a paddle if she didn't escape, it looked like.
The cage-keeper in question strolled into the room with an air of supreme arrogance. If Akira had been an adult, she would have wanted to shoot a burst of flame into their face just to wipe that smug look off of it.
"zipp, xilir. Zlexi ow cuav requi?," the human said; clearly it expected a response. Not with that kind of drekking gibberish, they weren't getting.
"Kark off," Akira snapped back.
"Ul, unec!" the human exclaimed. "O arhivwxerh; cua hur'xi leyi e requi. O kixi xiu reqi cua qucwipj!"
Akira didn't know what to make of that.
"O requi cua...xi Poklxir Hvekur!"
Was that the human trying to introduce itself? Was it's nonsensical name "See Poke a Lick Azure Heavy Core?" Why would anyone ever say that, let alone name their offspring after such a nonsensical jumble of words? It must be a human thing, Akira decided.
It didn't really matter. She didn't want to hear it babbling at her any more, in any case. With a long, drawn-out growl, she turned to face towards the other direction.
The human put its fingers into the cage to stroke her tail.
With a lightning-fast strike, Akira snapped down hard on the human's fleshy fingers and had to fight back a savage grin when she tasted its' coppery blood. Serves you right for kidnapping me, she thought, as the ugly cage-keeper withdrew its hand with a yelp that Akira couldn't understand, but certainly recognized as a curse. Four rough, bloody points--two on each finger--dripped blood onto the straw floor of the room.
The human stalked away.
It didn't look quite so smug, now.
It didn't take long for Akira to realize that the human was now avoiding her. After two full days where it didn't even dare bring her food, but forced its morkko to do it for them, Akira felt sure that she wouldn't have to fear it chasing her if she tried to escape. And so she waited, and grew, and finally one day she knew she was an adult. Fire burned in her chest, and she ached to let it loose upon something.
The rope suspending the cage in the air would be a decent starting point, Akira figured. It would burn easily and break with only a little bit of pressure. So she carefully, carefully, breathed a thin, hot stream of flame onto the waxed rope.
Results were instantaneous. The rope lit immediately and with ease; the cage dropped to the floor almost immediately afterwards. But...Akira expected the cage to break open upon hitting the floor. It was not so. The door to the cage bent outwards, somewhat. But it didn't open enough to let her free. Bashing it with her shoulder, she finally forced it open just a little. There was a latch that she could reach, now.
Finally! she cheered, lifting the latch.
She was free.

The wind whistled around Sulfur's head-fins as he perched at the edge of a cliff. His wings were folded tightly at his side, air flowing smoothly around them.
It would be nice to fly... Sulfur thought quietly. To be honest, he could fly, but a Lupora attack had left his wing weak, and every day he would climb to the top of the cliff to strengthen his wing.
It didn't seem to be working.
Standing, Sulfur, opened his wings, digging his large claws into the ground to hold himself in place as he flapped slowly.
Twinges of pain ran up and down his wing joints, but he ignored it.
Something snorted behind him and Sulfur whirled, wings pressing tightly to his sides once more.
A Lupora sat behind him, head cocked to one side as it stared at him. "G-go away!" Sulfur snarled, trying to look as threatening as possible.
The Lupora blinked, its red mane rippling in the wind. What was a lone Lupora doing up here, anyway?!Sulfur thought, letting weak flames seep from his mouth.
The Lupora let out a short bark, and more Luporas filtered out of the rocks and scant underbrush, mouths wrinkled in faint snarls as they approached.
"No! Stop!" Sulfur roared desperately. He backed up a few steps. "What do you want?"
The lead Lupora laughed; a short, coughing sound. "Is easy. We want you. You weak." The Lupora's speech was halting, and he spoke slowly, used to the packs' body language that hardly required vocal communication.
"Why?" Sulfur looked frantically for a way out; why, oh why, hadn't he agreed to take someone with him?
"You weak. We hungry."
Several Luporas licked their chops, and began advancing.
Sulfur stepped back and soon reached the edge of the cliff. Little rocks crumbled away beneath his feet, and he glanced up desperately.
Flames billowed from his mouth, singeing the ground in front of the pack leader, who leaped back with a surprised whine.
"Stay back!" Sulfur roared, but he couldn't speak and breathe fire at the same time.
"Fire will not last forever." The pack leader said, crouching down to wait. Sulfur snapped his jaws shut. He glanced down again. Maybe....
No. He decided to continue firebreathing until he ran out.
The sun was touching the top of the land when his fire ran out.
The pack yelped appreciatively, tired of darting back and forth to risk the flames. Several were singed, but that was forgotten as they advanced into a semicircle around Sulfur.
I have one choice. Sulfur thought bleakely. Fly or die.
He jumped.
Now imagine if I ended the story here? XD
The wind screamed past him.
It was loud.
He didn't remember it being this loud.
The sinking sun glinted off the hard, diamond-like scales he had.
So pretty.
His wings snapped open.
The pain that ripped through his injured one made him roar.
He managed one flap.... two flaps....
Sulfur landed feet first, letting his momentum pull him to the ground where he rolled. Standing slowly, he shook his head.
Pain throbbed from his left wing, and the howls of the Lupora were drawing closer.
He roared in reply, starting his run to where his tribe nested.
One the ground, the Luporas had an advantage, but Sulfur had a head start.
The guard soon heard Sulfur's roars, however, and flew to his rescue.
*Linebreak*
"I'm sorry, Sulfur." The tribe's healer said softly.
Sulfur didn't hear her.
He stared at the ground, numb to all.
You've ripped your muscle, Sulfur. It can't reattach itself without human help. And I'm afraid we're too far from any humans to get you to them in time...
END *Sorry if the alignment is iffy. I couldn't get it to work. :P*

(I've never actually written a short story before, only poorly made unfinished first drafts for long ones, but I'll try. Also, I wrote in first person, as that's not something I usually do and I thought it might be fun to try. I hope that's alright.)
I woke up, the pale teal gem-like scales covering my back glowing softly, the only source of light in the unwelcoming cave in which I dwelled. My stomach growled, and I made my way through the narrow tunnel leading from my sleeping area to my only connection to the outside world, a large wooden trapdoor looking down into the cave. As far back as I remembered I had lived underground for reasons unknown to me. I winced as my wings scraped against the low ceiling. When I got to the area with the trapdoor, I noticed that, as usual, one of my captors had already thrown down some food for me. After wolfing it down, I headed back down the tunnel to work on my paintings, the only thing I had to do down in the caves. Right before I left, however, I heard a faint scratching sound coming from above my head. The trapdoor was removed to reveal two hatchlings, a green and brown bulbori, and a pastel pink and blue puffadore. Or, at least, I was pretty sure that's what they were. I'd only ever seen glimpses of sylestis other than myself.
"Whoah" the bulbori gasped, his face filled with wonder. "They weren't lyin'. He's huge!". "Yeah, great you've seen him. can we go now?" The puffadore said anxiously. "My father said that he was dangerous, and-". "Descended from dragons, they are, ye?" The bulbori interrupted. The puffadore nodded. "Yes, and I'm dure that we can find some extremely interesting reading material about back home. Let's go". The bulbori ignored her completely. "Oi, what's your name?!" He called down to me. It took me a second to respond. I had never been spoken to before, or at least I think that I hadn't. "Umm... I don't really have one..."
"Oh, that's too bad. Well, what should we call ye, then?!"
"Why do you want to call me anything? We are you even talking to me, anyway?"
"That's a good question" Interrupted the puffadore, obviously annoyed by her friends failure to listen to her.
" 'Cause you're cool!" The bulbori said, as though it was obvious. "Anyway, I'm Mint, and this is cloud"
"Oh" I answered, not really knowing what else to say.
"So, as for what we should call you, how 'bout Predator? That's a cool name. Or Lagoon, 'cause you're all blue and stuff"
"Extremely articulate, aren't you" Cloud broke in, only to be yet again ignored by Mint.
"Your eyes are yellow, and kind of look like the moon, so why not something related to the night sky?"
"Oh. W-well I've never seen the night sky before..."
"Aquarius" Cloud broke again, this time catching Mint's attention.
"What?" He and I asked at the same time.
"That should be your name" Suddenly, her head turned and her ears stood up straight. "We need to go" she shoved the door shut, and the two ran away, just in time, to, as I heard new footsteps overhead. "Heh, told you those two hatchlings wouldn't do anything" Said a sneering voice from above. "Those stories we told 'em about this guy's ancestors was probably more than enough to send 'em running" The sylesti that had spoken pounded on the door a few times before leaving"
Two nights later, I had just about accepted the two hatchlings as some random kids who weren't coming back, when I heard a pounding on my trap door. I was about to try to sleep through, when I heard Cloud's voice. "Aquarius!" She called. I hurried over to stand beneath the door. She and Mint pulled it open, and then dropped down a vine. "We did some reading" She said. "You shouldn't be here. Climb up and we'll fill you in".
(Cliffhanger! Because, as previously implied, I'm incapable of ending stories. Sorry about that)

#6 can't get the pic sorry!
I had been running. It could have been minutes, it could have been hours. Perhaps seconds. All I knew was one thing. I was trying to outrun my fears. The fear of death, the fear of fire, the fear of life. I was usually successful at getting rid of stress, but stress seemed to haunt me. I came to a clearing, and skittered to a stop. The sound of a crow haunted me, and it seemed to taunt me, saying death was at my doorstep. Death is always coming closer, but not today. I dashed back in the woods, selfaware of the reminder of death. After death came life, and then more death, then more life. It was a rotating circle, one that I could not escape.
When I was younger I remembered my mother, my brothers and sisters, and my father. I was the runt, and one of two females out of six. We lived peacefully, never taking more than our share from the woods. But death had shown up on out doorstep in the shape of a beast. The beast had killed them, all but me. I heard the crow again, cawing and circling around the sky above me. I weaved into the thicker underbrush, to find shelter from the beast. I tried to use logic, to think, but I could not use my brain. 'Thank you for everything, forgetting everything, and being nothing.' I thought. Of all those survival lessons, and not a single on of them came to me? Ears flattened back and tail tucked beneath my legs, I ran out of my hiding spot.
After a while, I found a cave. I settled down, listening and watching as a misty haze of rain came down. First it was sprinkling, then it was lightly raining, then raining, raining heavily, and now hail. I rubbed up against the rock, as of to rub my worries away. Life would be so much more simple if I had done something, anything, to help my family. Instead I had shamed them all. I heard a growling coming from the cave. I had not realized in my rush to hide that it was occupied.
The growling outlined a shape of my own kind. A male, and territorial. The crow was right. Death was on my doorstep, but this time I was willing to accept my fate.
