Anyway, the game seems to be blocking me from Ethernia. When I click it on the main map, I just go to the Orchard. The Zone Progression box is telling me to "Return to Ethernia," but I can't. Is this a bug, or do I have to do something else before I can leave?

You will have to exit the zone you're in to go to a different zone in astryl's vale. When you go to the orchard, at the bottom right of the exploration screen there's an exit zone button. This is how the 3rd region works, you'll need to exit one zone to enter a different one, starting at the start position each time.
Edit: during festivals, since festival zones are in the 3rd region, exiting the fest zone will also reset all counters and spawn time for bosses/chests.
