If your stables were 100% full when she became an adult, she would have been automatically released. Could that be why?

Ohh I see! The reason for that is because a pet's maturity isn't always the same as the age listed on the profile page. If the "ugly kitty" got a few more nurtures than the other pet, it could have become an adult a few hours before her, and taken her spot because of that!

(You can see a pet's maturity in the IMG code, as long as the pet is genetically tested! at the end you'll see something that says '&maturity=###' - the numbers will tell you how close the pet is to being an adult.
0-71 = egg
72-215 = hatchling
216-647 = adolescent
648+ = adult)

edit: but I'm glad you got her back! :D

Hello! ^^

I would recommend putting the pets you want to keep into your stables while they're still adolescents. If you look at the pet's profile while it's still in the hatchery as an adolescent, there will be a big green button saying "Move to Stables" that you can click from the Information box. That way you can make sure that your favorites make it to the stable rather than accidentally being whisked away to the wild. :)

The trickiest thing about the hatchery and pet age is that the hatchery orders everything by the pet's ID number rather than their actual age. This means that several various factors can affect the age versus the order.

I'm not 100% sure, but in my experience the following effects seem to have taken place:

Nurtures add to an egg's hatching speed. 5 nurtures = 1 hour taken off form the hatching time; the hours themselves count as the hours that pass in real time, maybe five minutes after turn of the hour so it doesn't lag the whole site too badly. (Almost positive about this one.)

Profile views add to an adolescent pet's age. (Or it may be nurtures which also add stat points.)

Hatching an egg yourself rather than letting it auto-hatch on the fourth day can also skew the pet's age. This usually won't affect a user's own hatchery too badly since they'll generally hatch everything themselves in batches, or let them hatch on their own. But when buying an already-hatched pet, it's impossible to know if they hatched the pet early once it was ready, or if they waited the full 24 hours for it to hatch on its own. Simply put, Pet 1 may have been bred first, but it was hatched 7 hours after Pet 2 who was bred second, but hatched first. Pet 2's maturity would then be greater to it's actual age, and would reach adulthood before Pet 1 despite Pet 1 being in the front of the hatchery line.

>.> I hope all of these made sense, and that the added info will help you to avoid these kinds of accidents in the future! :D
