Hey, I have got severe tooth pain due to dental cavities. The pain is so severe that I feel like it is spreading to other areas of the face like ear and cheeks. Do they really have any connection? I consulted a family dentist in Ajax and he told that it needs a root canal. Is it safe to have a root canal while being pregnant? What might be the cause of my ear pain? Are there any solutions for it? Please give some genuine replies and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Yes it can because those main facial nerves are connected and if one item is irritated, it can refer pain to the other areas.

I had wisdom teeth extracted. When the nerve was exposed on one of them - it felt like an ear ache.

TBH - the answer to your questions can only be answered by your doctor. If you have dental cavities that are bad enough that the pain is spreading to the other areas of your face, then the doctor would likely advise that they be taken care of.

If you are advised to visit the dentist (regardless of where you are in your pregnancy), you will be asked by the dental staff if you are pregnant. Chances are after the first trimester, dental x-rays might be a consideration but I would imagine that the benefits outweigh the risks if you have an active infection that requires antibiotics.
