The wagon bounced down the road as the horse pulled it along. All that could be heard was the sound of hooves as they clomped along. With a start the woman jolted awake. "What?" She hissed looking down at her bond hands and feet. "What's the meaning of this?"
One of the prisoners, the one to her left looked up at her.
"Hey you, youre finally awake. You were trying to cross the border right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush same as us and that thief over there." The man said. With a confused look the Khajiit fell silent. Who was this man? That was right. She had came here to become a farmer, to grow from the land and sell what she grew. Then the imperials interfered and took her as a prisoner.
"Damn you Stormcloaks... Skyrim was fine until you came along! Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadnt been looking for you Id have stolen that horse and been halfway to Hammerfell." The man to her right, the one across from her, spoke before looking her direction."You there, you and me, we shouldnt be here. Its these Stormcloaks the Empire wants."
"Were all brothers and sisters in binds now." The left man spoke again before they were scolded by the carriage driver.
"Shut up back there." A deep voice hissed causing the woman's ears to go back and her tail to twitch.
"Whats wrong with him, huh?" The right man said speaking about the bound man that sat in the same seat as the woman.
"Watch your tongue! Youre speaking to Ulfric Stormcloak, the true High King." The left snapped.
"Ulfric? The Jarl of Windhelm? Youre the leader of the rebellion... if theyve captured you... oh gods, where are they taking us?" Now afraid the right man began to speak fast.
"I dont know where were going, but Sovngarde awaits."
"No, This cant be happening! This isnt happening!"
"Hey, what village are you from horse-thief?"
"Why do you care?"
"A Nords last thoughts should be of home."
"Rorikstead. Im from Rorikstead."
"General Tullius sir! The headsman is waiting." Another voice now rang out above the rest followed by one that could only be this General Tullius.
"Good, let's get this over with."
"Shor, Mara, Dibella, Kynareth, Akatosh! Divines, please help me!" The right man prayed to as many gods as he could think of.
"Look at him! General Tullius, the Military. And it looks like the Thalmor are with him. Damn elves, I bet they had something to do with this." The left commented about the general before commenting about where they were. "This is Helgen... I used to be sweet on a girl from here. I wonder if Velod is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in... Funny, when I was a boy Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel so safe."
"Who are they, daddy? Where are they going?" A child asked from one of the homes.
"You need to go inside, little cub." A man, most likely his father answered.
"Why? I want to watch the soldiers!" The child protested.
"Inside the house, now."
"Yes papa..." Reluctantly the child obeyed
"Woah... " with that the wagon stopped. They were at Helgen, at one of the worst times imaginable.
A Female Captain walked up to cart. She looked at each of them with a sour expression before turning away from them. "Get these prisoners out of the cart!" She called before taking her place beside the general.
"Why are we stopping?" The right man asked panickedly.
"Why do you think? End of the line." The left man said standing up. "Lets go, we shouldnt keep the gods waiting for us."
"No! Wait! Were not rebels!" The left cried out near tears. The woman stood her ears back and tail twitching. She had no words for what was going on, nor did she need them. The man was right, this was the end.
"Face your death with some courage, thief."
"Youve got to tell them we werent with you! This is a mistake!"
"Step towards the block when we call your name, one at a time!" The female Captian said to them all.
"Empire loves their damned lists." The left man said as he climbed from the wagon followed by the women.
"Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm." The man beside the female Captian said. One of the men, before introduced as Ulfric moved forward towards the block which were covered in blood. This wasn't good. The khajiit closeted her eyes some as she growled under her breath.
"it has been an honor, Jarl Ulfric" the man beside her whispered to himself.
"Ralof of Riverwood." The left man took his turn to leave.
"Lokir of Rorikstead?" The man asked again.
"No! Im not a rebel! You cant do this!" With that the horse their and man to the right pushed past them and made a run for it. He was an idiot, through and through.
"Halt!" The captain yelled though the man didn't stop.
"youre not going to kill me!" The man yelled back as he neared the gate.
"Archers!" With that order the archers shot, killing the man in his tracks. The woman looked away, trying not to be sick. The female Captain glared at rest of the prisoners. "Anyone else feel like running?" She growled.
"Wait... You there." He looked at the woman checking the list for her name. "Step forward." Eyes opened yet glaring the woman stepped forward as asked. "Who are you?" He asked not able to find her on the list. The khajiit was silent for a moment before she spoke with a hiss.
"Ase Greene."
"Not many khajiits would choose to come alone to Skyrim. Theives all of them. Captain, what should we do? She's not on the list."
"Forget the list. She goes straight to the block." The captain growled crossing her arms over her chest.
"By your orders, Captain. Im sorry. Well make sure your remains get returned to your family. Follow the captain, prisoner." With that Ase spat at the man before following the captain her tail twitching with anger. She just wanted to live a normal life and now she was dead! Such luck. Her ears were still back in anger as she looked to the crowd of people that were around them. ******s the whole lot of them. The khajiit moved to stand next to Ralof, the man that had been to the left of her before. The general stepped up to to the man named Ulfric. "Ulfric Stormcloak. Some here in Helgen call you a hero, but a hero doesnt use a power like the voice to murder his king and usurp the throne." The man growled past the gag in his mouth. The general laughed at him before turning away. "You started this war, flung skyrim into chaos. And now the Empire is going to put you down and restore the peace." Something happened then causing everyone to look up including the khajiit. Was that a roar? A bear maybe? No it was too far away and sounded as it it came from the sky.
"What was that?" The man with the he list asked though no one knew the answer.
"Its nothing. Carry on." The general said returning to the block.
"Yes, General Tullius!" The female captain said turning to priestess. "Give them their last rights."
"As we commend your souls to Aetherius, blessings of the 8 divines upon you-" the priestess started before she was cut off by a man.
"For the love of Talos, shut up and let's get this over with." The man said stepping forward.
The priestess hesitated for a moment. " as you wish."
"Come on! I havent got all morning!" The man kneeled by the block, looking up at the Captian with a smiled " My ancestors are smiling at me, Imperials. Can you say the same??"
The Captain stepped harshly on his back, pushing him froward. The headsman pulling up the ax and beheaded the soldier with a single blow.
"You Imperial ******s!" A solider from the crowed yelled followed by one of the towns people.
"Justice!"
"Death to the Stormcloaks!"
"...As fearless in death as he was in life." The man said from beside Ase.
"Next, the khajiit!" Again the roaring sound rang out causing everyone to look up.
"There it is again... did you hear that?
" the man with the list said.
"I said... Next Prisoner!" The captain yelled clearly annoyed. "To the block prisoner. Nice and easy."
Ase moved to the block, and kneeled at the block. The headsman moved to swing axe when another roar rang out as a dragon, yes a dragon, a thing of legend, a mythical creature landed on the top of the tower roaring again at the crowd knocking most of them over as he did. The headsman fell allowing the woman to stand only to be knocked down by another roar.
"What in Oblivion is that!?!" Someone yelled. There were screams everywhere as fire rained from the sky.
"Sentries, what do you see?!" The Captian asked in horror.
"Its in the clouds...!" Someone else yelled. Now on her feet the khajiit stumbled forward, dazed and confused.
"Dragon!!"
