I have no idea how to get past this part. Do I have to continue pushing through or is there a pattern I must complete? Also do drink or not drink the red potions? Iv'e been on this quest for more than a week now with no progress.
example: left, right, left etc..

There is a chance that the red potion will explode, but if it doesn't, it will help a lot.
