Chapter 1
The Distant Howl

The dawn light shown through the brambles Dante was sleeping under. Birds chirped and mice scuttered through the debri of No-Leaf. Dante blinked the sleep away and got up to stretch. It seems like today is going to be chilly but the morning sun states otherwise. He pushed him-self out from under the bramble bush and padded a ways to the hunting grounds. The cool grass always calmed him but the staying wolf scents creeped him out.
Dante had caught two mice by the time he heard it. The howl sounded off again. He dropped his prey before running back into the forest. It seemed safer to hunt here when the howl gets louder, but this time the howl was closer than ever. Dante could almost feel the words sang by the howl. Running away from this mysterious howl lent him the strength to climb trees. His jump was incredibly powerfull and he landed on the perfectly on a branch.

There was a movement a few bear-lengths below. A fox was stalking a rabbit. I should probably be more together next time. Dante thought with a smile. He jumped down from the tree still slightly afraid. The howls have gotten closer and closer. They are very mysterious howls. Howls that make him jittery. Dante darted to his den forgetting about hunting. This has gotten to the point where he hunts only a few times at night.
