Hello, fellow Sylestians!

I'm a new player, I started last month. I'm starting to see that people are saying to others the game is 13+.
It was a bit late when I made my account (About 10 o' clock in Western time, I think. Check my profile for the exact time). Because of this, I didn't see anything about an age limit or anything at the time, since I was tired.
I'm 3 years under the age limit thing, then. Am I still allowed to play Sylestia? I was really enjoying the game, but now I feel a bit nervous. I just wanted to know.

As I was over the age of 13 when I applied, I'm not certain if it prevents you from signing up if you don't click the "I am over the age of 13" box.

I think that box is actually there because of part of the privacy policy:
"VII. Do we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act?
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important to us. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information on our Site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13."

I'm just guessing of course. I personally have no problem with players being younger then 13 so long as they're mature enough to be respectful of the site and players, but I think it's best to keep in mind that there may be topics/content that aren't suitable for players under the age of 13 while you're browsing the site/forums. I think this might be a question Krin or Fai will have to verify on.

Edit: After double checking the sign-up page, they collect a bit of information for demographic purposes, which is what they use to determine certain things like Sylestia time. Sylestia time reflects Central time even though the site owners live on the East Coast, because a lot of the demographic is spread throughout the states they used a time they felt worked with the bulk of players.
Essentially the 13+ box could be only for that purpose, so they're not using your demographic information.

While I can't answer your question on age limits, I just wanted to give you my support, regardless of what happens. 10 years ago today, I was in your exact same shoes, frustrated by how websites required players to be over 13 to join. I'm nearing 22 now, but I'm really empathizing with your situation.

Heyo! Imma 10 too! Well, I've seen a few people under 13 years of age, so, your fine! Krin and Fai are pretty chill with that actually.

Being at least 13 years of age is required to create an account. That checkbox is required in order to comply with COPPA. If you are under 13, you should have a parent, guardian, or someone over the age of 13 create your account.

Obviously, if you are posting here, your account is already created so that message doesn't do much good lol.

We have no age limit on actually playing the game. However, we expect players of all ages to follow and abide by our Terms of Service and rules and will treat all players the same, regardless of their age.
