Just wondering if there's a use for unlevelled, no traits, basic pets like the egglings found during quests. Is there a market for them? Or should I just release them...

If they have no traits, there's usually no market for them. So if you don't personally like the pet, I'll recommend you selling them instead of trying to sell.

well, tamed pets can be genetically mutated and therefore have one trait. doing this might be cheaper than using an essence to generate a new pet, especially if you don't really care what trait the pet has (lesser mutators which add a random trait cost about 5 times less than greater ones which add a trait of your choice). however, non-themed tamed pets usually have not so nice colors, and recoloring may cost way more than an essence.
let me also remind that some pets have carried traits which can be seen only if the pet is genetically tested.
that's all I know.

Ahh, I haven't genetically tested the pets so I don't know if they carry any traits hehe. I'll have to check that...
