We only do for specific essences, like Aeridini for spring festival... or for a revamp.
We still feel that there are too many essences in the game (from the beginning, they were very easily obtainable and were mass hoarded).
Maybe down the road, if we restructure how they work and can create ways to filter them out. For example, combining a certain amount of Regular Essences to create one Enhanced Essence. If we can add things like that to the game to reduce the overall amount of essences, then we'd feel safer putting them on sale at regular intervals.
