Similar to Pokmon but much different.
Map Overview
Towering mountains overlook their grounds for miles on end, the newly formed planet rumbles from deep within. Mountains nearest the small seas gurgle melted rock from within their burning throats, erupting from time to time but none to destructive. While mountain ranges are of great abundance, forests spread wide and far. They are lush and green, very fertile on the mountain foot and rich in nutrients from minerals that are swept by the wind from the volcanos down into the soil below.

Most of the world is land, however, much water rolls over the surface as well. The seas are full of plant life, many reefs and underwater gardens lay upon it's sandy border that separates it from fresh molten rock of the planet's crust. The tides and waves of these seas are frequently changing due to plate shifts of the crust that rumble the order. Aside from seas, rivers weave throughout every biome, rocky and full of kelp. They pick up different nutrients from everywhere they run, and all seem to connect, so many life forms can survive. There are also a few ponds scattered about, but most are similar to swamps and only the most hardy could handle the rough bogs they've been formed as.

Life Forms
Different life forms in these regions are being discovered all the time, unfortunately for settling creatures. One animal will make their home, and then something bizarre and unknown will come by and completely change their lifestyle. Although sometimes this is beneficial, and friendships are born. These life forms seem to be affected by the strange majestic aura of their world, and the special characteristics of the homes they choose will greatly affect their capabilities. Some even learn from their home and pick up abilities that would have otherwise been impossible. It seems the cells in their bodies are quite similar to the matter they live in, aside from the living-breathing detail.

For example, a creature living near a volcano may develop a way to spit magma themselves. With the little vegetation, some rely on the nutrients in rocks. Their jaws become strong and their teeth absorb the strongest materials to crush others. The heat of the environment is absorbed to melt the stone in their bellies. Nutrients and minerals are converted to energy, while magma is disposed of as waste through paws, jaws, or gills. Depending on the creature's base body build, they will acquire different abilities in relationship to their environment.

Long Story Short...
You may build whatever critter you want to use in this fantasy land as long as it makes sense with the biome it lives in. It will be more complex than another Pokmon roleplay, for example, if your fire-style creature depends on volcanic heat to melt the substances in place of digestion, if it leaves the volcano and ventures into the forest or sea you are going to have a tummy problem. :p That is my number one character rule for this story, be reasonable. Number two, please don't be too overpowering. Don't add a body part to your character too fast. If you want it to grow wings, it is gonna take time (unless it is affected by some chemical in the environment.) Either way, the critter isn't going to know how to use them at first. You have full freedom with your character, please just be a bit logical. xD

No humans, as the title suggests. However, you may have a humanoid creature. Fairies and elves are aloud, maybe just give them some sort of outside influence as well? I want to stay more on the realistic side while still keeping the fantasy feel~~~

Name: Tumble
Gender: Female

Body build/base: Mammal and avian
Appearance: Tumble is a creature that mostly resembles a lion. She has a body built for athletics, slender, sleek, yet muscular. She has big feathered wings as well. Her eyes are vivid green. A distinguishable body part this species features are big rounded ears. These ears, like most felines, can rotate to pick up sensitive noises all around them. Since they are so large, this species is hard to sneak up on. Cubs are born with big ears for protection, but the ears grow slowly as they age and learn more survival techniques. The tuft of fur on the end of the tail also expands into a feather fan as they learn aerial skills. The Purefeather breed is born with speckles, but as it is named for, these spots fade into one pure color by the time of maturity. Tumble's color is white with black speckles that will fade away as she grows.

Personality: Tumble is playful and tricky, however she is very loyal and means well. She doesn't trust easily, but when she does, she pours all her trust into that creature and will have their back no matter what. She is timid though she tries to hide it, brave when she needs to be, and gentle with the small things. Although short-tempered, Tumble tries to keep a calm mind in hard situations. (This will strengthen as she grows)
Capabilities: She can glide with her big wings, although she isn't adapted to flight just yet. (She will be soon.) Spending much time in tree tops allows her to keep her eyes open when the wind is strong, and her white coat reflects heat. Her claws can be extended for grabbing prey and climbing. Since she has to be well adapted to the wind in her habitat, she has found a way of beating her wings that creates a counter wind. She can create a thunderous noise by sending it back into another wind, or use it to attach enemies.
Biome of choice: Forested mountains
Strengths/Weaknesses: Tumble's sleek coat does not allow her to do well in the colder regions. If wet, her heavy wings will weigh her down. She moves fastest when it's hottest.
Family: Tumble was sure she heard something with her newborn ears, but now she isn't so sure. She is convinced she sprung up from the flower beds. She doesn't remember a time when she had family. Who knows how she survived the early years- magic maybe. (to be adopted by Storm)
Backstory: Tumble's family died before her eyes opened. An instinct in her genetics allowed her to open her eyes early and search for a new caretaker. She met a mountain lion named Storm who mothered her. She fell into an aging pool not long after, and developed a sense of danger for someone of her own kind calling out for help. Following the instinct, Tumble left Storm on her own Journey.

Appearance: Storm is an older feline with a heavy white coat. Her huge, flat paws and long tail make it easy to walk through and balance in the snow. Her eyes are light gray and shimmery.

Personality: Protective, distrusting, and short-tempered. Storm is motherly and strong-willed. She will take little ones under her care and protect them even if it means her death, but she is not easy trusting of adults or teens. When she gets to know you her cub-like personality shines through and she is very playful and caring.
Capabilities: Storm has to be agile to create body heat which her heavy coat stores in great abundance to keep warm. However, her continues movement has made for quick reflexes that enhance the electric impulses in her body. She has learned to harness these for electric energy. Since she lives so close to the sky, Storm can call electric bolts from the sky and direct it at enemies. However, she can only do this in moderation, needing time to build her energy back up. Storm has a slight levitation power she got from her link to the moon.
Biome of choice: Snowy mountain tundras and caves.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Containment, she thrives on movement. The electric activity in her body allows her to have a much longer lifespan than your average lion.
Family: Tumble, adopted daughter. Lucent, her mate. Deimos, Mercury, and Neptune her triplets.
Backstory: Storm has been around since the snow first fell, she rarely shares her knowledge. When she was an older cub, she met a younger wolf pup named Lucent. They were good friends, but he left when her clan forbid him entrance. Later they met again and he saved her life with his moon power. This linked her to the moon and caused her to pour all her trust into him, to the point where she fell in love.

Gender: Male

Species: Dinosaur (Whistles Di-no-sa- you are a dinosaur!)

Body build/base: Reptile
Appearance: Bear with me here, I have never drawn a dinosaur like this before. Spike is big and deep red, his scales are heavy, wide, and flat with a rough outer surface. Since he lives in the volcanic region and devours the rocks that form their, his body is as strong as his environment. Spike normally stands on his hind legs, keeping his forelegs in front of him for balance. He has a large skull with a mane of horns behind his head. He has horns defining his jaw as well, and big claws on the tips of his feet. He has three rows of teeth top and bottom, lining seventy-two teeth in all. Mostly fangs near the front while he has bigger teeth for crushing toward the back. These are made of obsidian. Since he spits magma, he does not have a tongue. The roof and bottom of his mouth are obsidian like his teeth for crushing so he can tip his head back to allow the rocks to pass down his throat. All his claws are black, his scales are deep shades of burgundy that camoflauge him in the smoke. His eyes are watery yellow. He has a big powerful tail as well.

Personality: Extremely hostile and territorial. He has been on his own since hatching so he has no social skills. He just knows he is always hungry and everything either avoids him or tries to kill him. Spike is aggressive and snappy. He hasn't been known to open up to anyone. He has no mercy, and since he has had no warmth and love from the outside world, he runs on his instinct to kill on site. The way to his heart is persistence and bravery.
Capabilities: Since Spike relies on the nutrients and minerals of volcanic rock for survival, his body needs a way to dispose of the excess sediment. The volcanic heat from his habitat is absorbed into Spike's body and melts the rock, therefore allowing Spike to shoot magma and acid from his belly.
Biome of choice: Volcano
Strengths/Weaknesses: Cold. If Spike gets to cold the rock in his stomach will harden and he will die. His body won't be able to retrieve the nutrients and will eventually run out of energy completely.

Backstory: Spike has been around for a long time but there is not much to tell.

Capabilities: Poisonous claws, very speedy. He can survive harsh heat.

Strengths/Weaknesses: If he gets to cold his body will be forced into hibernation. With lots of heat he is super extremely fast and more aggressive.

Name: Mercury
Gender: Female
Age: 2 months
Species: Wolf/Lion Hybrid
Breed: Moondrop
Body build/base: Mammal, Feline/Canine
Appearance: Small, fuzzy, and warm. Mercury has a feline like body, retractable claws and visible whiskers. However, she has pointed wolf-like ears and a big bushy canine tail. Her eyes are bright purple, her fur is cream colored with a white belly coat. Her wings are covered with fur, the patterns beneath them soak up moon energy at night and allow her to fly like a jet. They glow purple when ready to fly.

Personality: Cunning, intelligent, strong willed. Mercury can do anything if she puts her mind to it. She is too curious for her own good though, and easily gets into trouble. She is hard to outsmart, but at the same time too friendly with strangers. While she is very open and trusting, she is always cautious on the backburner and can snap to defense at any time. Because of her mood swings, Mercury is easily offended, but quick to forgive.
Capabilities: Mercury's wings soak up moonlight at night, giving her the ability to fly even though they don't beat like the feathery wings of her father. She can only fly at night, her speed increased on an exceptionally clear night. She also has a crescent mark on her forehead which inherited a bit of her mother's levitation ability, however, she can only lift small objects. Up to the size of a rabbit.
Biome of choice: Mountain, forest, or plains.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Mercury is very strong, surprisingly so for her size. She can charge a small boulder and split it in half with a headbut. However, she is not very fast. Although she may be agile, doing summersaults and flips to dodge attacks, she can easily be caught up to. Her power is strengthened in the moonlight, and because of her moderate coat, she can survive in both snow and a little heat.
Family: Lucent is her father, Storm is her mother. She has a brother named Deimos and a sister named Neptune.

Name: Torch
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Species: Volcanine
Breed: Flarefire
Body build/base: Heat, mammal
Appearance: Is it hot in here or is it just him? Torch's fur is basically fire, condensed and thick. Let's start at his ears, which are the brightest part on his body. They are white at the tips and fade to yellow. These ears are not ordinary ears, they absorb the heat of his volcanic home (as does the rest of his fur) and converts it into light energy. Every hair on his body shines like an ember, each with it's own color. While his fur colors are constantly changing and mixing, pulsing, shimmering, and dimming, it is hard to look straight at him. His constant change makes it hard to read his emotions. Typically his paws, muzzle, and tip of his tail are also white to yellow. The rest of his body goes from red, orange, and yellow depending on the heat he is absorbing at the time. He is never all one color, and sometimes there will be tiny bits of blue here and there. Torch has a sleek coat, bulky around his shoulders and neck. He has a long bushy tail that he never grooms, and scalding white hot claws that can melt stone. His eyes are bright, vivid blue. Aside from fur, Torch has a crest of fire starting at the back of his head and burning down, stopping on his lower back. Did I forget to mention he has four wings, phoenix wings?
Personality: Torch has an overall positive outlook on life, though he can get caught up about himself at times making jokes about how he is so hot. He is kind toward strangers, often offering guidance to those who lose their way in the volcano. If you go behind his back, however, he may never forgive or trust you again.
Capabilities: Absorbing heat to use as a flamethrower from his paws and burn in his fur. He can also adjust the amount of heat from his body others are feeling, so that his fire becomes virtually cool or just warm. Because of his fireproof exterior, Torch is able to wade and swim through lava like an ember.
Biome of choice: Volcano
Strengths/Weaknesses: Because of his immense amount of stored heat, Torch can survive almost anywhere but a snowy region for at least a week. However, if he is not recharged by the volcano he will become weak and powerless, possibly even sick and dead. At his hottest Torch is a powerful fighter you don't want to mess with. If he is doused in water, or if his flaming crest goes out, he will die.

Personality: Normally not very social, but he is super protective of those he love (and wish love him). He is also a hopeless romantic.. Poor thing.
Capabilities: FIREEEEE, able to slow/speed the coming of dawn.
