so I read in another thread that time on the site and nurtures affect a pet's age, why/how does time spent on the site affect a pet's maturity? How does nurturing? how does selecting the pet's traits that you want in offspring work? I'd really like to know. what benefits does testing a sylesti have? Also, I have two Luporas that the nurture thing told me were derpy, what should I do for a derpy pet?! what should I do for a restless pet? And is it a good idea to work out with hatchlings when they are weak? Is it better to let an eggling hatch on it's own or to help break the egg? I need answers for these questions, I want to do the best thing for each of my hatchlings/egglings/sylesties. I get attatched to them, especially if they are ones I bred and/or named. (or in the case of one of my Luporas, found abandoned in a field) also, Ping me if you respond otherwise I won't know anyone responded.

I can only answer some of your questions:
for derpy, read it a book
for weak, work out with it
for restless, play
for slow, race with it
when you help it break the egg, that gives it extra health
when you let it break the egg, that gives it extra strength
I have also been wondering about the testing thing too. :P
and when you nurture a sylesti, the only thing I know that it does is give you scales.
sorry, that's all the answers I know! .n. hopefully someone else will be able to tell you more.

I broke up your questions to see what went unanswered.
why/how does time spent on the site affect a pet's maturity?
Maturity is the actual age of a pet, while time on the site is just how long the pet existed on the site.
A good example of this is adopting an already-born pet or egg from the wild.
When you find one in the wild (usually found abandoned, or in a nest) and you choose to adopt it, it formally starts to "exist" on the site. (where it gets a pet ID and you're registered as its original owner)
However, it can be any kind of maturity when you adopt it, whether it's about halfway to hatch, or almost ready to hatch, or newly hatched, or still has a few days to go, even if it "existed" for only a minute.
How does nurturing?
Nurturing an egg = helps age em faster
Nurturing a hatchling/after it hatched = helps their base stats go up (just a little, like maybe 5 nurtures helps add a point in what it's weak in)
how does selecting the pet's traits that you want in offspring work?
Through breeding. You can see these in breeding guides. Check the Breeding Discussion and Player Guides for these. ^^
what benefits does testing a sylesti have?
1. Tests to see what traits it'll have visible when it's an adult.
(So you can see what it'll look like ahead of time! Helps people who need to plan breedings, or people who just can't wait aha)
2. Sees "carried" or "hidden" traits.
Carried traits or hidden traits (traits carried, behind a visible trait) aren't visible, and you won't see or know about them unless they're tested. These serve purpose in breeding.
Also, I have two Luporas that the nurture thing told me were derpy, what should I do for a derpy pet?!
what should I do for a restless pet?
And is it a good idea to work out with hatchlings when they are weak?
Is it better to let an eggling hatch on it's own or to help break the egg?
All answered by Porphy. ^^
Hope these help!
