So, I was wondering how you use proficiency points. Like, one of my pets has 6 proficiency point and when I go to their Proficiency tree, almost all of the buttons are grayed out. Only the top three are, umm, clickable. When I hover over the ones next to the number 5, it says learned at 5 points. What does that mean?

That means you have to spend 5 points on the top before the bottom on is accessible. Sam with everything else.
